Overview

Part-time and full-time available

(24, 32 or 40 hours per week)

Clinic hours are Monday-Friday, 8a-5p
No floating, no weekends, no holidays

Full-time benefits eligible

The Cardiology clinic sees patients at some regional locations throughout Ohio. Nurses and PCAs may be assigned to work at one of these locations on any given day. The team meets at Nationwide Children's Main Campus location and rides together in The Heart Center vehicle. Team members share driving to and from these locations. The typical shift is the normal, day time hours, no overnight travel.

-The team cares for adults of all ages.

PCAs

-Tasks: vitals, manual blood pressure checks, EKGs, placing cardiac monitors on patients to wear home, stocking, cleaning, turning over rooms

-Main campus sees approximately 60 patients per day in the clinic

-Ratio: 1 PCA to 15 patients is average

-Need to be able to work full 8-hour shifts (with some level of flexibility)

-Unit cannot guarantee set days

Responsibilities

* Performs clerical office coordination and administrative tasks as necessary.
* Collects, documents, and reports vital signs such as: blood pressure or mean arterial pressure, heights, and weights. Completes screening questions and documents all items into medical record.
* Promotes general patient safety and performs minor specimen testing. Holds, positions patients and assists with procedures. Preps all materials and supplies as needed.
* Remains compliant with HIPAA, maintains professionalism and ensures confidentiality of patient information.
* Ensures environmental standards are met and all clinic and patient areas are stocked, cleaned, and maintained.
* Identifies learning needs and attends continuing education as appropriate. Participates in educational activities offered by the business unit. Acts as a preceptor of orientation and training of other PCA staff.



Qualifications

Education:
High school graduate or equivalent.

Must Meet At Least One of the Following:

- Active, Ohio STNA license

- At least one year of patient care experience in a hospital setting within the last three years

- Nursing student (from approved/accredited program) who has completed the Fundamentals of Nursing (or equivalent) course

Licensure:
Valid State of Ohio driver's license. BMV check required upon hire.

Certifications:

Current CPR (BLS for healthcare provider) required upon hire

Skills:
1. Sound written and verbal communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
2. Demonstrated basic computer skills.
3. Must demonstrate competence as defined in the Patient Care Assistant responsibilities/skills checklist in providing age appropriate care and services to pediatric patients of all ages and select adult patients.
4. Displays a positive presence and interacts with all levels of staff, outside vendors, consultants, and physicians.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Occasionally, 1-33% of the time: Climb stairs/ladder; sitting; lifting/carrying 410-60lbs, 61-100lbs, +100lbs with assistance. May come into contact with fumes, gases, vapors, biohazard waste, machinery, and power tools.

Frequently, 34-66% of the time: Squat/kneel; reaching above shoulder; repetitive arm and hand use. Lifting/carrying 040lbs; pushing/pulling 0-61lbs; depth perception-vision. May come into contact with blood, bodily fluids, communicable diseases or pathogens, chemicals, and electricity.

Continuously, 67-100% of the time: Standing, walking, audible speech, speech clarity and hearing acuity. Color vision, seeing far/near.
