Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time

Open Until Filled.

$17.73 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Government Center/Viera. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.Performs experienced technical work providing customer service by assisting the general public in completing the planning and development process relating to building permits.

REQUIREMENTS:High school diploma or its equivalentPLUSthree (3) years of direct customer service experiencePLUSmust successfully complete, within twelve (12) months of employment, all of the classes for any one (1) phase of the Brevard County Employee Development Program and receive a passing score on the phase examination;ORone (1) year as a Brevard County Customer Service Representative IPLUSsuccessful completion of all of the classes for any one (1) phase of the Employee Development Program and receive a passing score on the phase examinationPLUSa current performance evaluation score of 4.0 or higher, with no performance evaluation factors with a rating of a 1 or 2. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. Experience in a construction environment, building department, or permitting and development is preferred. Successful completion of college coursework in a construction field is preferred.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:Must possess, or obtain within six (6) months of employment, an active Florida Notary Public certification and maintain said certification during the term of employment. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
