Position Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Budget Analyst I to join our team. In this introductory role, you will play a crucial part in the budgeting process for Texas Tech. The position involves performing specialized analytical duties in the operation and maintenance of the assigned area and leveraging your analytical skills to support our institution. Texas Tech Budget Office prepares the annual budget and assists with maintenance throughout the year by assisting departments with position and budget management. We also provide internal and external decision makers with data and analysis through various forms of reporting needed to determine the best course of action to propel the university into the next 100 years.

Major/Essential Functions

• Develop professional skills in data analysis and project implementation, while also gaining a deep understanding of the funding sources and operational processes of the University.
• Collecting, analyzing, and interpret financial data to support the University.
• Making recommendations and assisting in the implementation of projects and process improvements.
• Provide assistance and training to departments and perform duties required to complete the annual budget prep cycle.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in related field

Preferred Qualifications

• Three (3) years experience in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• Experience in Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent customer service skills
