Job Description Summary:

The Contracts Intern position serves as an integral member of the Contracts and Subcontracts department. Our Team strives to provide both internal and external customers with solution-oriented leadership and guidance and is focused on achieving the strategic objectives of the organization while balancing risk and regulatory compliance at a premier Research and Development (R&D) Defense Laboratory.
This position will offer the candidate the opportunity to interface internally across various R&D Programs and functional counterparts (Programs, Finance, Legal, Supply Chain, Property, Security) as well as direct Customer interface with Government and Commercial Partners. The position will also offer opportunities for the candidate to be exposed to various business lines at Draper.
Applicant should have excellent problem-solving and communication skills and an interest in learning about Government Contracting, Risk Management, Regulatory Research and Communications.
Responsibilities:
*Assisting with Proposal Preparation, Contract Negotiation, Fact Finding, Contract Administration
*Assisting with the execution of current Contracts and work with Customers to proactively communicate, problem solve, and manage risk
*Reviewing contract modifications and administering system updates through various systems used within the Contracts Organization
*Preparing Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs)
*Compiling and maintaining contractual records and documents in accordance with contract requirements and company policies

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities
* Co-op will rotate working between multiple groups within Department to ensure a base knowledge set is experienced for comprehensive professional development.
* Provide assistance to a team, including, but not limited to, clerical duties, processing paperwork, customer service or performing data entry.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

Program Requirements
* Must be enrolled in an accredited bachelor's / master's degree program.
* Must be a U.S. citizen

Skills/Abilities
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Excellent work ethic with the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
* Ability to adapt to ever-changing environments, risks, and vulnerabilities.
* Strong computer skills including MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

There is flexibility regarding hours and program duration based on applicant's school schedule and availability.
This position can be partially hybrid remote, however being in the office, when appropriate, is an important part of this experience.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in one of the following disciples: Law, International Business, Business Law, Business Management, Political Science or similar Business related field
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fact paced environment with effective time management.
  • Interest in applicable Government regulations and policies (FAR, DFARs, Contractual Terms & Conditions, Risk Management, etc)
  • This role is expected to be onsite three (3) days at our Cambridge, MA facility
  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher.
