Role Overview

The Director of Livestock Strategic Initiatives, Global Commercial Development (GCD) will drive strategic initiatives to help achieve our Livestock business strategy. They will be responsible for leading and managing the execution of initiatives that contribute to advancing our innovation strategic priorities and to the Commercial success of new product and lifecycle introductions. They will also be responsible for the measurement and reporting on the progress for initiatives. Anticipating future opportunities and challenges, they will play a significant role in identifying future initiatives.

The Director of Livestock Strategic Initiatives will partner across the organization and establish collaborative relationships with senior leadership and other functions including colleagues in GCD, Corporate Strategy, Commercial, Research & Development, Manufacturing, Finance, Sustainability, etc. They will work collaboratively to develop informed plans, scenarios, and recommendations. They will socialize plans, secure leadership endorsement and operational support, and present updates to executive leadership. Projects are defined to enhance value for our customers and our business.

As a leader in the Zoetis organization, the Director of Livestock Strategic Initiatives models Zoetis core beliefs and communicates the importance of conducting business in a manner consistent with Zoetis values and behaviors. They will report directly to the Head of GCD Livestock.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads process for developing and delivering plans that drive strategic initiatives.
  • Defines metrics and reporting by selecting and organizing information to deliver visibility and insight into initiative performance and business value.
  • Assesses opportunities, analyzes data, and makes appropriate recommendations for action that support improving initiative results and understanding longer-term business impact.
  • Drives innovation by exploring new ideas, technologies, and processes.
  • Builds and maintains collaborative relationships across the organization to ensure that relevant stakeholders are participating in the input, decision making and implementation processes.
  • Communicates effectively within Zoetis to ensure alignment and help drive the business.

Qualifications & Experience

These qualifications, experiences, and skills are highly desirable; however, they do not preclude exceptions based on an individual's performance history and demonstrated potential.

  • MBA and relevant experience required. Additional technical/scientific degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of business experience with track record of assuming increasing responsibility.
  • Ability to build clarity around nebulous concepts.
  • Strong process and project management skills to drive complex, cross-functional projects that require input from many stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic mindset and skills including analytical skills, long-term visioning and planning, problem-solving and data-driven decision making, and adaptability and change management.
  • Strong financial analysis skills and proven ability to create forecasts and scenarios.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of organizational acumen and working in a matrix organization.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills and ability to lead through influence.
  • Strong executive leadership presence, ability to interact with/influence with confidence and conviction.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office and ability to learn Zoetis systems).
  • Ability to travel to internal and external meetings (>20%).
