Job Purpose

Responsible for developing 3D CAD DATA models as well as 2D drawing prints to support Battery Pack systems and subcomponents including Modules and general hardware components based on customer requirements. Support PLM based system through release, and series support of Battery Pack Systems. Applies CAD engineering methods, theories, and research techniques within a comprehensive product development environment. Assesses architecture and hardware limitations, plans technical projects in the design and development of CAD software. Defines new approaches regarding the implementation of CAD software applications while adhering to design specifications and parameters. #REA

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Complete CAD work required to process Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) including 3D model development as well as 2D drawings as required.
  • Ensure adherence to all CAD and drafting standards.
  • Check work during the processing of ECs to ensure adherence to CAD/drafting standards.
  • Create file conversions as required from CAD data, i.e. iges, dxf, stp, and pdf formats.
  • Design new components and systems utilizing 3D CAD modeling techniques under the direction of product engineering.
  • Create, update and detail mechanical/electrical part drawings as required.
  • Support Mechanical and Electrical engineers with the release of parts into PLM system.
  • Apply Enersys Systems CAD and drawing standards.
  • Provide first line checking responsibility for mechanical component designs, system assembly models, and BOM accuracy.
  • Assists in the development of Mechanical design standards and implementation.
  • Ensure drawings, notes, formats etc... meet corporate design standards and best practices.
Qualifications

Specific Skills/Abilities
* Conceptual design capability with one or more CAD systems (Creo/Soldi Works)
* Knowledge of Sheet metal forming as well as Plastics/Composites as it pertains to manufacturing.
* General comprehension of PLM release system.
* Experience in GD&T and ASME Y14.1 drawing principles.
* Must have focus on quality, accuracy & efficiency of design release and updates.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment and excel in a self-directed work environment as well as within a cross functional team.
* Ability and willingness to work on multiple projects at one time and be able to adapt to changing priorities.
* General comprehension of battery systems a plus.
* Strong communication skills, both written and oral format.

Education/Experience
* 10+ years using Design Software such as Creo and or Solid Works preferred.
* Technical Academic and/or Certifications preferred.
* Experience designing with thermal management system and a good understanding of electronics.
* Demonstrated experience hardware design from concept to series support.
* General knowledge of FEA and CFD simulation process and interface with supporting CAE teams for optimization
* Knowledge of industry specifications as it pertains to SAE certifications and IP ratings.
* Knowledge of manufacturing process both at both Prototype level as well as Series Production.

Training Required
* Candidates will attend HV safety training offered by Enersys as an on-the-job training function.
