Senior Data Analyst

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Data Analyst to join our team. As a Senior Data Analyst, you will play a critical role in gathering, analyzing, and interpreting large datasets to help drive strategic decision-making within the company. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop actionable insights, create reports and dashboards, and ensure the company leverages data to optimize business performance.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in SQL, Python, R, or other programming languages for data analysis.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau and Alteryx.
  • Strong knowledge of data manipulation, data cleaning, and data wrangling techniques.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and big data technologies is a plus.
  • The ability to identify and translate business needs into technical requirements is a must.

Key Responsibilities:

  • This position is a senior technical role within the Pitt IT Analytics team under the Office of Transformation. This role is unique in that you will serve the Office of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S), while being managed and trained by the IT data analytics team. EH&S's data needs will be your primary focus, and you will also work, as needed, within the larger analytics team to provide data source and dashboard updates and development.
  • This position will be focused on identifying multiple manual data processes in EH&S and automating them to provide better analytics as well as modernize EH&S data practices. The ability to identify and translate business needs into technical requirements is a must.
  • You will be expected to document your products and share your learned knowledge to raise the overall level of analytics understanding and best practices throughout the university.

Job Summary

Evaluates business requirements and performs advanced data integration and analysis. Develops advanced analytical and reporting tools utilizing multiple sources of integrated data. Provides technical support.


Essential Functions

Data analysis, organization, visualization.

Must have the ability to work with PC equipment and related hardware/software and telephony video-conferencing systems. Must have good written and verbal communication skills, as well as, analytical, organizational, and planning skills.


Physical Effort

Generally sedentary desk work with computer-keyboard-video phone other than traveling to other buildings on campus for meetings/events on occasion. Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
