Methode Electronics is seeking a Product Development Engineer to lead product development of new customer-specific interior and exterior lighting products. You will manage multiple projects while helping to support departmental goals and objectives, offer guidance and evaluation assistance enabling team members to provide the highest level of product quality. You will also work with off-site Methode production facilities and sales.This role will support our Grakon business. Responsibilities:
Oversee and manageproduct development projectsfromconcept to production launch Support the Engineering team and Design Engineers by providing input to technical solutions Assist with performance testing and analysis of proprietary and/or competitor products Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel Identify and resolve technical issues within the project Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path Develop and deliver all APQP documentation Work with Sales and/or Project Management to create manufacturing cost estimates (MCEs) 10% travel both domestic and internationally Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering At least 4 years of industry experience in a similar role (interior/exterior lighting) with the ability to perform mechanical design reviews, including tolerance stacking, material considerations, etc., with prior experience with SAE, FMVSS, ECE, CCC, and ASTM requirements At least 7 years relevant training/work experience including ability to clearly identify and communicate problems to team members Knowledge of plastic injection molding, stamping, tooling, fabrication of metal and plastic parts, and manufacturing disciplines Excellent communication skills including ability to clearly/effectively communicatecomplex designs to other functional groups Hands-on experience in Creo, CATIA, or another CAD software Knowledge of quality concepts, including continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, etc. Good working knowledge of inspection, assembly, and packaging techniques Experience in LED lighting, plastic injection molding, stamping, tooling, and/or manufacturing disciplines Some experience or knowledge of regulatory requirements as they may apply to new product development, such as SAE, FMVSS, ECE, CCC, and ASTM requirements Proven ability to overcome obstacles and get results International Automotive Task Force (IATF) 16949 knowledge highly preferred Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
