Position description

The Department of Art and Art History at the University of California, Davis , invites applications for a lecturer position in the Art Studio Program to teach Beginning Photography in Winter 2025 (Jan. 6 - Mar. 21). The selected lecturer will teach a three-hour studio class twice a week and schedule regular office hours.

Art 009: Beginning Photography. This class introduces students to visual language of photographic art and technique. Manual camera operation and printing techniques. Concept and practice of photography as an art form and creating photographic projects. Qualifications include an MFA or the equivalent, 3 years college/university level teaching experience beyond the TA level, expertise in the discipline and experience teaching Photography. Candidates with diverse viewpoints, backgrounds and experiences are encouraged to apply.

This is a non-tenured, temporary position: the appointments to the title of Lecturer are self-terminating (no further notice on non-reappointment will be forthcoming) and do not create an obligation on the part of the University either to extend or renew the appointment outlined above. Any reappointment will be preceded by an assessment. Proof of citizenship or eligibility for US employment required prior to employment (Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986).

This position is subject o UC policy and is covered by a collective bargaining unit.
