Our Production Supervisor supports Mativ's Sustainability and Adhesives Solutions (SAS) Function. This individual is responsible for the overall performance of the production floor, within the assigned shift. Their supervision of activities needs to result in meeting safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives/goals. All activity needs to focus on improving operational performance.
The shift is 6pm to 6am four days a week, in our Windsor, CT location and reports to the Production Manager.
responsibilities:
- Be a champion of company safety by adhering to all appropriate safety policies and procedures in the course of directing employees and seeking opportunities to improve safe work practices.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of equipment and resources while maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Assure the successful performance of each production department by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Successfully execute production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel on both regular time and overtime, accomplishing work results, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, resolving problems, and summarizing results of on-shift turnover reports.
- Provide coaching, counseling, and disciplinary action while enforcing policies and procedures including assuring compliance with an employee's work schedule in ADP.
- Maintain a high level of quality in production by understanding quality requirements and working with the team to determine the root cause and corrective action of all non-conformances. Implement and sustain corrective actions.
- Be a champion of waste elimination. Understand sources of waste by performing variance analysis and by using other waste identifying tools. Work with your team to put corrective measures in place.
- Be a champion of employee engagement by Creating content for, scheduling, conducting, and documenting department meetings to maintain open communication between hourly employees and leadership.
- Reviews Production variances and addresses issues with the team.
- Provide manufacturing information as required by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions, and responding to requests.
- Assist in defining KPI safety, quality, delivery, cost, scrap, and productivity goals. Update performance on department boards.
- Initiate and foster a spirit of cooperation within and between shifts by assuring there is strong daily communication.
- Maintain capable staff by orienting and training/cross-training new and experienced employees and developing personal growth opportunities. Diligently perform 30, 60 & 90-day reviews along with annual performance evaluations.
- Be a champion of continuous improvement by leading/participating in 5S and other improvement events. Assure continuous cleanliness of work areas.
- Assist in the hiring process by interviewing potential candidates and providing hiring recommendations to HR.
- Ensure operation of equipment by submitting maintenance work requests along with evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Understand and assure all weekend shut down procedures are followed.
- Perform all other assignments as requested by management.
qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of working in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role.
- Proven "hands-on" leadership ability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Must have strong leadership skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with all levels of management
- Excellent computer skills. Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) and Access proficiency required
Preferred
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO13485
- Knowledge of ERP (SAP) systems considered an advantage.
