Job Overview
The Director of Strategic Sourcing is responsible for developing and implementing a strategic supply chain that maximizes value, minimizes risk, and ensures continuity for both the business and its customers. This role involves creating sourcing strategies, overseeing subcontracts and procurement activities, and collaborating across departments to align supply chain solutions with corporate goals. The Director of Strategic Sourcing supports business development initiatives by integrating procurement strategies during the proposal stage to position the company competitively in future opportunities.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Design and implement supply chain strategies that identifies and establishes partnerships with key suppliers and strategic partners. Ensure long-term value creation by optimizing cost efficiencies, enhancing product/service quality, improving performance, reduces risk, and fosters innovation, all while aligning with business objectives and consistently delivering superior value to customers.
- Develop and lead strategic sourcing initiatives that enhance supply chain performance, optimize cost efficiency, and meet the evolving needs of the business and its customers.
- Oversee team performance and daily operations, ensuring operational requirements are successfully achieved and key performance indicators (KPIs) are consistently met or surpassed.
- Identify, select, evaluate, and manage key suppliers and partners to reduce risks, ensure continuity of supply, and deliver superior value.
- Foster long-term strategic relationships with suppliers and partners, negotiating favorable terms to secure critical goods and services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business development and operations, to design innovative supply chain solutions that enhance competitive positioning during contract negotiations and proposals.
- Lead procurement efforts in support of new business, providing timely documentation such as RFQ, RFPs, draft subcontracts, price/cost analysis, negotiation memoranda, and Basis of Estimates to support the proposal process.
- Oversee the entire subcontract and procurement lifecycle, ensuring compliance, performance, and adherence to performance standards.
- Support the launch and execution of new programs, ensuring seamless alignment between procurement strategies and project requirements.
- Lead efforts to continuously improve sourcing and supply chain operations, leveraging technology and best practices to increase efficiency and transparency.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, FAR/DFARS, and external regulations while driving process integrity.
- Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks, ensuring the business remains agile and responsive to changing market conditions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Mandatory
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in business, accounting, finance, supply chain management, operations, or legal discipline, plus twelve (12) years of supply chain and/or government contracting experience.
- Education and experience may be substituted interchangeably.
- Proficient knowledge of FAR/DFARS, DCMA approved purchases, system compliance, and contracting policies and procedures.
- Experience developing and implementing strategic supply chain partnerships.
- Adept knowledge of procurement instruments such as subcontracts, contracts, and agreements.
- Four (4) years of experience in a direct supervisory capacity managing, motivating, developing, and overseeing staff members with responsibility for compliance.
- Proficient in MS Office products including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Obtain and maintain favorable National Agency Check w/Inquiries (NACI) and/or a DoD security clearance at the Secret level, if required.
- Able to successfully pass any employment background check and/drug test as required.
