The Allied Health student may perform any technical skill which has been taught in their program, after the skill has been accurately demonstrated to the Allied Health Preceptor. The Allied Health Student also WILL NOT: 1) receive verbal orders; 2) note physician's orders without the direct supervision and signature of the Preceptor; 3) initiate IV therapy or blood products; and 4) administer medications. The Allied Health Student position is expected to perform all work in accordance to the mission, vision and values of Oklahoma Heart Hospital. Serves as a role model promoting the Oklahoma Heart Hospital culture. Actively participates in administering direct patient care in both stable and acute settings, under the supervision of the preceptor. Able to document all pertinent patient information needed. Assists the preceptor with physical assessments and reassessments on patients within the department's standard admission and reassessment time frames. Maintains patient confidentiality and privacy. Applies the knowledge of growth and development to appropriate patient populations. Qualifications Education: Completed appropriate clinical rotations at an allied health accredited school of radiology, ultrasound, or respiratory. Licensure/Certification: Current BLS certification required. Experience: No experience required. Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Ability to manipulate various types of electronic and clinical equipment, calibrate and troubleshoot equipment, IV infusions and computer equipment in the Hospital. Ability to operate the specialty equipment in the department and to perform tasks at the "user" level. Interpersonal Skills: Must possess the ability to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing, and effectively share information in a timely manner. Must be able to effectively interact and communicate with all staff, physicians, patients and families, based on the patient's willingness and ability to learn. Must be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues and be able to communicate in a clear and understandable manner appropriate to the age/developmental state of the patient or visitor.
