Position Summary

The Senior Quality Engineer (SrQE) will be the primary technical quality support for field operations and customer sites within Oceaneering Mobile Robotics. This role ensures product quality and reliability, addresses quality concerns at customer locations, and drives continuous improvement based on field feedback. The SrQE supports New Product Introduction (NPI), leads Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for on-site issues, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

* Act as the main quality contact at customer sites.
* Provide on-site technical support during system installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
* Monitor product performance in the field and address quality concerns.
* Build strong customer relationships to manage quality issues proactively.
* Conduct root cause analysis for product failures and quality issues.
* Lead cross-functional teams to resolve quality concerns and develop CAPA.
* Implement quality improvement initiatives based on field data and customer feedback.
* Perform field audits and inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards.
* Oversee quality inspection and validation processes during product deployment and testing.
* Create and execute field quality plans and documentation.
* Collaborate with Engineering and NPI teams to develop field quality control plans.
* Support the transition from development to production, ensuring quality requirements are met.
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives using tools like Six Sigma, Lean, and FMEA.
* Prepare detailed reports on quality performance, root cause analysis, and CAPA implementation.
* Document and communicate lessons learned to drive quality improvements.
* Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians on quality standards and RCA methodologies.
* Develop and deliver training sessions for customers on product quality and maintenance.
* Review and approve drawings and engineering change orders.
* Identify, measure, analyze, and report the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and recommend corrective actions.
* Write project quality plans and facilitate risk assessments.
* Support internal and external audits.
* Ensure proper flow down of quality requirements in the field.
* Lead continuous improvement activities and quality initiatives.
* Act as the customer interface for project quality concerns.
* Participate in supplier kickoff meetings to ensure compliance with performance and quality requirements.
* Lead development projects to assess field support capability and improve process stability.
* Utilize advanced quality practices and tools to analyze risks and systemic issues.
* Manage the implementation and execution of field corrective and preventive action plans.
* Mentor and guide other Quality Engineers and Project Engineers.
* Lead change management to ensure flawless implementation of process changes.
* Participate in value engineering and cost reduction activities.
* Execute Oceaneering's Quality Tenets.
* Produce technical reports and presentations.
* Undertake special projects as required.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

* Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or Quality Management.
* Minimum of 10 years in quality engineering, preferably in a field or customer-facing role.
* Proven track record in root cause analysis and corrective actions for complex issues.
* Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS), including ISO9001.
* Proficiency with quality tools like 8D, FMEA, and statistical analysis.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
* Experience in fast-paced manufacturing or field service environments.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective customer and team interactions.
* Ability to travel up to 50% for customer site support.
* Thorough understanding of basic manufacturing techniques (e.g., machining, casting, welding).
* Comprehensive knowledge of quality management systems and operational excellence processes.
* Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
* Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).
* Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reports and business correspondence.
* Ability to evaluate manufacturing and production processes against standards and specifications.

DESIRED

* Experience in mobile robotics, automotive, or industrial automation industries.
* Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) or other relevant quality certification.
* Hands-on experience with robotics, automation systems, or complex electromechanical equipment.
* Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, and other automotive quality planning methodologies.
* Strong project management skills for leading quality improvement projects.
* Understanding of general industry standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, ASTM, ANSI).

o Specialty Engineering (e.g., Weld Engineer, Controls Engineer, Industrial Engineer)

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is considered OFFICE WORK characterized as:

* Almost exclusively indoors during the day and occasionally at night,
* Position may require individual to work remotely or in an office,
