Mathematics and Statistics

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics consists of 13 tenured and tenure-track faculty and 5 ranked non-tenure-track faculty. The department plays an important role on the engineering-focused campus of Missouri S&T, both in terms of interdisciplinary interactions with other departments and in the training of a large number of undergraduate students in fundamental areas such as calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, and statistics. The department has B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. programs, with about 32 graduate students (the majority being doctoral students) and about 75 undergraduate students. Job Description

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Missouri University of Science and Technology invites applications for a full time, non-tenure-track Assistant Teaching Professor position which is anticipated to begin in Fall 2025. Opportunities for future promotion within the non-tenure-track ranks are available. This position is renewable annually.

Applicants must show documented evidence of excellence in teaching. The ideal candidate will have experience in teaching a wide variety of undergraduate courses in mathematics or statistics. The typical teaching load for an assistant teaching professor is 12 credit hours per semester. Coordination of large multi-section introductory level courses in mathematics or statistics will be expected, along with additional service responsibilities. Participation in teaching-related professional development opportunities is encouraged and supported.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's in Mathematics, Statistics, or closely related field
  • Experience in teaching a wide variety of undergraduate courses in mathematics or statistics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills. The ability to perform both as a member of a team and in a leadership role
  • PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, or closely related field
  • The ability to teach graduate mathematics or statistics courses as needed
  • At least 3 years of full-time college or university teaching experience
