Summary/Objective

This position is primarily responsible for cutting material used in chassis. This individual will be measuring and cutting material to produce pre-cut tube. A cut house saw operator will be reporting to the team leader to ensure daily goals are being met.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  3. Maintenance of good housekeeping practices throughout the installation area.

  1. Combination of specified designs and measurements, appropriate component parts, cutting, and welding systems to produce pre-cut tube.
  2. Maintenance of raw material inventory (plate, channel, tube, angle, etc.).
  3. Movement of raw material to and from saw area.
  4. Maintenance of saw, saw tables, saw blades, rollers, etc.
  5. Assurance of secure material handling through safety cross-checks.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily on the floor/in the work, could be exposed to elements (heat, snow, etc.)
  • May sit or stand for several hours at a time.
  • Repetitive use of hands to operate machinery.

Qualifications:

  1. High school degree or GED.
  2. Must be able to operate appropriate equipment including band saws, tape measurers, etc.
  3. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  4. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  5. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Competencies:

  1. Must be able to work as a part of a team to achieve the company's overall demand.
  2. Must be able to work as a part of a team to achieve the company's overall goals.
  3. Basic computer skills needed to post-production tags onto the system.
  4. Must demonstrate clear verbal and written communication skills (English).
  5. Must be able to read and process written communication including, but not limited to, work orders, frame prints, and measurements.
  6. Must be able to meet production goals and time deadlines for company projects.
  7. Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
  8. Must demonstrate welding competency and knowledge of welding systems.
  9. Must be able to rotate to other splice or production welding positions as the need arises or as is deemed necessary.
  10. Must possess successful problem-solving skills.
  11. Must be able to exhibit tact and diplomacy and maintain professional relationships with supervisors, fellow team members, customers, etc.
  12. Must be able to work under physically and mentally stressful situations.
  13. Must be able to prioritize and easily adapt to changes through the day.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This role does not have any supervisory responsibility upon hiring.

Physical Demands:
While performing duties of the job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active - while performing this job the team member is regularly standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, balancing, reaching, handling, and climbing all day. The team member may have to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations considered for individuals with disabilities to enable them to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this Job, the team member works around moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment, and conveyer roller lines. The team member may work in outside weather conditions in all seasons. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

In addition, the team member may be exposed to dust, fumes, gases, noise, heat, cold, and wet work while performing job duties.

This position requires personal protective equipment such as work gloves, safety glasses, ear plugs, cut resistant sleeves, and seasonal gear which will be provided (contingent on position).

Additional items required but not included are steel toed shoes or boots with metatarsal guards.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time hourly position, and hours of work and days are based upon the need to support operations and production. Some Saturdays will be mandatory.

Travel:

No travel required for this position.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  1. Ability to read and understand basic blueprints.
  2. Lift Truck Operators License preferred (training available).
