Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

Fred Hutch's Philanthropy program raises funds for cancer and related disease research, care, and education to help Fred Hutch become the world's best cancer center. Since the April 2022 merger that led to the formation of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, Fred Hutch has served as the cancer program for UW Medicine, and Philanthropy is proud to raise funds that fuel the adult oncology program on behalf of both Fred Hutch and UW Medicine.

Following board approval of an ambitious, 10-year comprehensive campaign, our team of more than 130 will grow to 160 over the next two years. Philanthropy staff implement high-performing, relationship-based fundraising programs that engage and inspire thousands of supporters who are passionate about preventing and eliminating cancer and infectious disease. Our FY25 goals include increasing our annual fundraising, deepening our patient family fundraising, and advancing the first phase of our comprehensive campaign through Fred Hutch's 50th anniversary in 2025. Our success is made possible through a deep commitment to an inclusive environment and operational excellence.

The Program Manager, Obliteride, reports to the Senior Manager, Obliteride. Obliteride is Fred Hutch's largest peer-to-peer fundraising event bringing more than 6,000 riders, walkers, runners, and virtual participants, and more than 800 volunteers together to raise millions of dollars for innovative research and compassionate care at Fred Hutch. The Program Manager, Obliteride, is responsible for the development, management, planning, production, and delivery of program priorities. In partnership with Obliteride team members, the Program Manager will help increase the event's impact through relationship-building, stewardship, and engagement with participants, donors, teams, and corporate partners. Obliteride raised over $8 million in 2023 and more than $58 million since launching the event in 2012. The team is pursuing significant growth in fundraising over the next few years.

Some travel and weekend and evening work will be required.

This role will have the opportunity to work partially at our campus and remotely.



Responsibilities

Primary/Essential Duties

    Manage fundraising and implement engagement and stewardship strategies for assigned participant groups.
  • Identify and build opportunities to raise awareness and recruit participants through dynamic presentations, tabling events, and innovative outreach strategies.
  • Provide direct, excellent customer service and support to participants and donors.
  • Build strategic and collegial partnerships to problem-solve and strengthen programs.
  • Manage engagement and strategic growth of internal and/or external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Philanthropy leaders and partners teams to develop innovative strategies and clear goals and implement programs/projects that deliver on those goals.
  • Implement and manage all aspects and logistics of assigned projects from concept to completion.
  • Collaborate with partner teams and programs to produce deliverables.
  • Document and maintain records for historical reference and analysis.
  • Establish, improve, and/or update procedures and processes.
  • Serve as an individual contributor; this role has program responsibility but does not have people or fundraising responsibility.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Three years related experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working or volunteering in peer-to-peer, event, annual giving, or major gifts fundraising.
  • Ability to establish and cultivate sustainable relationships and partnerships with individuals from varying backgrounds and philanthropic capacity levels.
  • Skilled at engaging and inspiring audiences through effective presentations.
  • Experience in nonprofit, research, or health care environment with campaign planning or campaign implementation experience.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Highly developed organizational and information management skills.
  • Strong attention to a high level of detail and quality of work.
  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively within a complex organization.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with a CRM, Raiser's Edge/RENXT, or related fundraising software.
  • Ability to handle and respect confidential and sensitive information.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $75,151 to $112,673, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
