Job Description Summary:

In support of Draper's mission to solve our Nation's most challenging problems, we are seeking senior mechanical design engineers focused on electromechanical and electrooptical system design for high-reliability and extended mission life.
This role is initially focused on strategic-grade IMU and navigation aiding system development. The candidate will be required to perform and/or oversee mechanical design and development for ruggedized, highly-reliable electro- and optomechanical systems capable of surviving harsh environments (e.g. high-g, high temperature, high vibration)

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities
* Independently drive solutions to complex, multidisciplinary problems with a deep understanding of a customer's strategic priorities
* Assists customers with shaping their needs and developing requirements for programs that solve their most challenging technical problems
* Subject Matter Expert (SME) in mechanical design with broad knowledge across related technical disciplines
* Contributes to advancing State of the Art (SOA) solutions and techniques in the design of mechanical hardware
* Analyze Draper strategy and work with management to build capability in key areas to help sustain business growth
* Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills/Abilities

* Collaborate and communicate effectively and openly with multi-disciplinary program team members, program leadership, and non-technical personnel.
* Team player able to work in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to balance multiple competing tasks and demands.
* Thorough understanding of applied math and physics.
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Proficient with general modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB, computer-aided design (CAD) software, and/or other design & analysis tools relevant to your discipline.

Education
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field. Master's degree is preferred.

Experience
Requires 15+ years in mechanical engineering or full cycle of mechanical design experience.

Additional Job Description:
