Job Summary |
This is a four year limited term position and is funded from external sources. Continuation of employment is contingent upon availability of funds.
The individual in this position will assist with the AU agriculture drone project for the department of Crop, Soils, & Environmental Sciences.

Essential Functions |
Essential Functions include the following:
- Assist with project team spray trials.
- Manage drone fleet.
- Repair drones.
- Conduct field studies.
- Manage project progress and data.
- Organize drone events.
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate student workers in the field.
- Attend professional conferences, expos, and tradeshows and promote AU studies and project team to generate national and international impact.

RESEARCH ASSISTANT
All levels require a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Breeding, or closely related field at the time employment begins.
Level I: No experience required
Level II: 2 years of relevant experience
Level
III: 4 years of relevant experience
Level IV: 6 years of relevant experience
RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
All levels require a Master's degree from an accredited institution in Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Breeding, or closely related field at the time employment begins.
Level I: No experience required
Level II: 2 years of relevant experience
Level
III: 4 years of relevant experience
Level IV: 6 years of relevant experience
Advanced degrees accepted in lieu of years of experience. |

- Successful candidate is expected to obtain Alabama commercial pesticide license-D&R category and FAA part 107 remote pilot license within 3 months of employment.
- Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one prior to selection.
