Job Summary

The Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) works independently to provide day-to-day coordination of research activities for assigned studies under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI) and Senior Clinical Research Coordinator. The CRC will recruit and screen study participants, conduct study visits, oversee data collection and data quality assurance, lead training, conduct blood draws, and oversee all specimen-related activities of assigned studies.This is a fulltime, career position located on the UC Davis Medical Center campus in Sacramento.

Minimum Qualifications: For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload their license, certification, and educational degree/diploma if required for the position

  • Must have a HS diploma and sufficient experience/demonstrated skills to successfully perform the assigned duties and responsibilities
  • Must have a CA Phlebotomy Certificate (CPT I)
  • Must have an IRB and HIPAA certification within 12 months of start date
  • Demonstrated recent experience in the execution of human research protocols
  • Demonstrated recent experience in phlebotomy, administering transient elastography (FibroScan) and bioelectronic impedance testing, or willing to be trained
  • Demonstrated experience tracking participants in electronic databases
  • Knowledge of IRB Administration policies and procedures and HIPAA regulations and ability to monitor compliance by co-workers, interns, and/or students
  • Excellent organizational skills to schedule and coordinate between 10-15 study visits each month
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to communicate with patients with sensitivity
  • Ability to foster and maintain good morale among team members
  • Knowledge and skill to establish appropriate work standards to achieve the highest productivity
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the study objectives, procedures, and policies
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain positive and cooperative attitude even during unexpected schedule or priority changes and retain interpersonal effectiveness
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to handle biohazard samples
  • Computer skill and experience with database programs for the effective management of research data
  • Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision, following study protocol
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and assignments based on the needs of the research team and the research participants, seeking input from the PI and managers when needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health or a Science related field OR equivalent experience, education, and training

Department Overview

The Department of Public Health Sciences is a large academic research department in the UC Davis School of Medicine. Our mission is to improve the health of people through large scale regional, national and international population-based approaches by carrying out epidemiologic, biomedical, and informatics research, educational programs, public service and policy development. The PI's research program includes multi-disciplinary studies that prioritizes identification of risk and protective factors, evaluation of preventive interventions, and strategies for early detection of cancer. Our approach involves multi-center longitudinal cohort studies, case-control studies, and clinical trials. Our team interfaces with a diverse array of research participants, including healthy volunteers, people at risk for cancer, and cancer patients.
