General Information:

James Madison University's Facilities Management is accepting applications for an Equipment Repair Tech Senior. This is a day shift position with overtime as required to cover special events and inclement weather.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Evaluates vehicles and equipment to develop an estimate of what it would cost to restore each vehicle to customer or university standards.
* Handles all paperwork associated with insurance claims and body shop estimates, forwards accident reports to FM Risk Management, and approves invoices to verify that all work is completed accurately.
* Diagnoses vehicle, small engine and landscaping equipment systems faults to include but not limited to engine, transmission, drive line, differential, hydraulic, steering and suspension, electronic management controls, heating and cooling air conditioning and brakes.
* Fabricates and installs special equipment and attachments.
* Uses the FM computerized Maintenance Management System to track all labor, parts and work performed on each vehicle according to procedures.
* Performs preventive maintenance and state inspections.

Qualifications:

* Experience as a general mechanic or as a repair technician in a specified field.
* Strong mechanical and electronic background.
* The ability and skill to work in a multi-task work environment.
* Must be 19 years of age with a valid driver's license held for a minimum of 24 months with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.
* Must obtain a valid CDL Class B Driver's License with P (passenger) endorsement within one year of hire.
* A Virginia Motor Vehicle Safety Inspector license or the ability to obtain within one year if not already possessed.
