Basic Function

LyondellBasell's Global Asset Integrity and Turnaround Department is a world-class, central engineering support organization - advancing continuous performance improvements in our petrochemical facilities worldwide.

The Turnaround Engineer leads and facilitates the identification and development of technical and engineered turnaround work scope. The Turnaround Engineer also identifies potential contractors, develops bid packages, and leads procurement in the development of contractor strategies to support the execution phase of turnarounds. The position is based within Global Asset Integrity & Turnarounds (GAIT) and will require travel to various South Texas sites for turnaround preparation and assessment, particularly in Matagorda, Victoria, and Corpus Christi. The chosen candidate will have the option to work from either location.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to enable the organization to achieve GoalZERO HSE performance
  • Contributes to overall leadership of turnaround planning and execution, driving use of best practices
  • Provides first level technical support for turnaround planning staff
  • Liaison between the Capital Project Managers and the Turnaround Team on projects that have scope that will be performed during the turnaround
  • Assures work scope requiring engineering design be put into the design process such that design deliverables are received by the Turnaround Team per the turnaround excellence model
  • Manage low complexity projects associated with assigned turnarounds with aggregate capital expenditures of $5MM - $15MM
  • Works with turnaround planning resources to define technical resource needs and assigns, allocates, or procures them as necessary to efficiently and safely meet turnaround goals
  • Assists and backs up the Turnaround Manager as needed and provides leadership as required for aspects of turnaround planning and execution
  • Communicates status, key performance indicators and metrics #LI-CB1
  • Develops, manages, leads, and assist with turnaround improvement efforts

Min. Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in engineering.

Work Experience:

Typically, minimum 8 years of engineering experience in a process plant or comparable environment is required. Prior turnaround / project experience strongly preferred.

Languages:

English

Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

SAP, Primavera, Power BI, and Archer skills preferred.

Travel:

10% - 15% travel within North America required.
