Job Summary

The UCSF/ZSFG Trauma Recovery Center has an opening for a full-time clinical social worker with experience working with underserved survivors of interpersonal violence. Under the supervision of senior clinical staff, the incumbent will provide direct clinical services, including intakes, individual and group psychotherapy, assertive outreach, clinical case management, risk management, all using evidence-based practices that are effective for the service population. Incumbent will also provide crisis intervention and emotional support to acute sexual assault survivors in the ZSFG Emergency Dept.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $37.56 - $50.31 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description

The UCSF- Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG) Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) is an award-winning program that is the first of its kind in California. It is designed to help victims of violent crime overcome barriers to accessing mental health treatment, health care, and legal resources in the acute aftermath of trauma. The TRC provides trauma-informed psychotherapy and assertive clinical case management services to crime victims.

Required Qualifications


  • CSW I: Master's degree in social work, psychology or related field from an accredited university and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
  • CSWII: Master's degree in social work, psychology or related field from an accredited university and possession of the requirements necessary for application for licensure as determined by the California Board of Behavioral Science; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
  • Experience working with survivors of trauma as gained as part of study or while in school or internship in a similar institution
  • Sensitivity in working with survivors of trauma who have complex psychosocial needs and substance use.
  • Excellent documentation and clinical skills, ability to set priorities, work independently, excellent follow-up, work well under pressure and deadlines.
  • Experience doing case management, outreach, and home visits as gained as part of study or while in school or internship in a similar institution
  • The Clinical Social Worker I/II must be able to move between different treatment approaches (clinical case management versus evidence-based, trauma-informed psychotherapy) depending on the needs of the client.
  • The Clinical Social Worker I/II must demonstrate cultural humility and a strengths-based, recovery philosophy.
  • The Clinical Social Worker I/II must be able to engage with and provide emotional support to acute sexual assault victims in the ZSFG Emergency Department.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, able to shift between various clinical and administrative duties. Strong ability to track and complete short and long-term clinical tasks
  • Demonstrated excellent attendance and reliability

Preferred Qualifications


  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, Mandarin, or Portuguese
