Responsibilities The Cashier is primarily responsible for operating the cash register, maintaining adequate food and supplies in the cafeteria. Essential Functions: Opens cash register at the beginning of shift Secures bank bag and changer for designated register at the beginning of shift Counts bank to verify proper amount of cash Documents opening bank amount on proper form and places in bank bag Sets up register to open Operates point-of-sale cash register Responsible for checking each customer's purchases accurately Rings food selections into cash register and totals amount of purchase Collects cash from customer and gives proper change Properly closes cash register at end of shift Runs a "z" tape from cash register at end of shift Replenishes bank to approved amount and secures safely according to policy and procedure Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience: One (1) to two (2) years of food service experience preferred. Working Knowledge: Must have basic math skills; especially related to counting money.
