Position Summary

Supervises operations for one or more departments. Coordinates workflow to maximize efficiency and productivity to meet objectives for assigned areas. Hires, trains, develops, supports, and coaches operations personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (The following statements describe the general nature of work being performed in this job. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by management):



  • Responsible for supervising and monitoring work flow for assigned areas to meet company objectives and service requirements. Communicates with other departments and functional groups ensuring the accurate and timely processing of work.
  • Designs and develops processes to ensure quality and quantity standards are achieved.
  • Communicates company and service center objectives, policies, programs, schedules ensuring they are understood by everyone needing such information to successfully carry out his or her responsibilities.
  • Works with employees and Human Resources to ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures, governmental laws and regulations.
  • Ensures staffing levels are adjusted to meet business needs through the movement and training of existing staff and by hiring and training additional staff as required.
  • Acts as a positive leader who coaches, counsels and develops employees, encouraging open communication and giving regular feedback. Administers disciplinary actions when required.

  • Responsible for minimizing costs and expenses (i.e., labor, freight, supplies).
  • Maintains necessary stock levels of supplies and materials.
  • Seeks to develop and make recommendations for process and departmental improvements.
  • Creates and maintains employee records.
  • Ensures a safe and effective working environment.



Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises department employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and discipline employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.



Qualifications
Qualifications

  • 3-5 years supervisory experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, and organizational skills. Ability to conduct effective interviews.
  • Software skills including but not limited to word processing and spreadsheet skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret business reports and data such as technical procedures or financial reporting. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals and effectively present information and respond to questions from internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists and interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Implement and assist with process improvements.
  • Ideal candidates must be highly motivated and enjoy working in a challenging environment.



Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, walk and use hands and fingers; occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.



Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
