JOB Summary

Nordson - Optical Sensors and Metrology division is seeking a Planner for the Golden Valley site. The Planner will be responsible for coordinating the Production Build Plan and logistics coordination to satisfy customer demand. The candidate will be responsible for providing the plant with a weekly production plan consistent with plant capacity and sales forecast. This position will report directly to the Operations Logistics Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Make delivery commitments for all products, which involve checking uncommitted material and availability of capacity. Ensure production schedules and sales backlogs are monitored closely for on-time completion.

  • Monitor actual output versus the Production Build Plan. Identify gaps and drive solutions, including metrics on production performance to the requested production schedule. Communicate with customer service if there is a delay in meeting their product orders.

  • Set finished goods inventory at target levels in ensure satisfactory service levels, i.e. product availability.

  • Project finished goods inventory levels on a quarterly basis. Achieve desired corporate inventory turn targets.

  • Establish daily and weekly protocol for monitoring sales backlog and escalation as required.

  • Support EOL product transition, monitoring the key EOL components, and the plan for final buy, last makes and long-term service support etc. Monitor current Bill of Materials and coordinate with Engineering management on a plan for End-of-Life transitions.

  • Manage work order creation, size, due dates and completion, develop and manage an open work order review system. This includes managing part shortage.

  • Attend weekly Tier, SQDIP, and SIOP meetings to communicate changes, improvements, and or initiatives.

Experience, Education, and Competencies Required

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience as a Planner or related field.

  • Sound knowledge of manufacturing planning, demand and replenishment processes.

  • Ability to manage complexity and resolve conflicts that arise from balancing multiple priorities.

  • Experience using MRP / ERP systems such as QAD or SAP.

  • Effective communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

Experience, Education, and Competencies Preferred

  • Master's degree with 2 years of experience as a Planner or related field.

  • APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP).

  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to reason and influence at all levels.
