Payroll Title: BUS SYS ANL 2 The full salary range for this position is $33.29- $59.15/hr. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. Brief Summary of Job Duties: Business Systems Analyst 2 Under the direction of the Associate Director of the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, performs business process analysis towards the implementation of new business information systems that support the department's effort to plan for and build a new financial aid delivery system. The Business Systems Analyst 2 will also work with a variety of departments to enhance and modernize existing systems used in the disbursement of financial aid to the UCSB Community. The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships serves as approximately 16,000 students and disburses more than $360 million annually. Analyzes systems requirements, and supports the building of a new financial aid delivery though project coordination. Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business processes , existing systems, user needs and technology opportunities, and provides a detailed description of needs, program and system functions, and steps required to purchase, develop, and/or modify software programs. Acting in this capacity, initiates and coordinates projects throughout their lifecycle, from definition through implementation and testing. Satisfactory criminal history background check UCSB is a Tobacco-Free environment Job Functions and Percentages of Time: 40% Business Process, Systems Analysis and Design Provides business process and system analysis and design support for the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships and for and/or in coordination with other campus departments: Studies information related needs of the department. Determines how people, business processes and computer technology can be best arranged to help accomplish the objectives of the organization. Interviews users, observes and analyzes work processes, reviews current systems usage and available documentation. Helps the business users clearly identify and understand their processes, roles, relationships and dependencies. Evaluates automation needs of internal and external users and identifies systems solutions. Develops analyses and design documentation, including tests cases and scenarios, and initial project proposals based on user and organizational needs and executive management strategic recommendations. Keeps up-to-date on current business and systems analysis methodologies, notation techniques and tools, and quality assurance strategies, as well as programming and database technology. Works with the Director to ensure the financial aid system rewrite is on pace to be completed by the target date and is an active participant on the department's management team. 10% Project Management and Info Systems Implementation Provides project support and coordination for information systems implementation for the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships in coordination with other key campus departments: Works in close collaboration with other business analysts, managers, architects, system administrators, software engineers, programmers, and customers to determine the best approach for achieving particular business requirements and successful project execution and testing. Initiates and coordinates projects throughout their lifecycle, from definition to implementation, including initial information gathering, analysis (including fit/gap analysis), procurement, project scheduling, environment and system setup, data migrations, testing, and implementation phases of the project. Participates in vendor evaluation, selection, and implementation 10% Requirements Gathering and Solutions Research Performs requirements gathering & researches solutions for the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships: Gathers and documents user and system requirements, including prioritization and test scenarios. Researches vendor software solutions, when necessary. Compares requirements relative to vendor software packages available on the market, defines any "gaps" between user requirements and vendor packages and develops recommendations for vendor software implementation, custom development, or a combination. Analyzes system requirements from cost, development, deployment, capacity, flexibility, and support perspective. Proposes alternative solutions and recommends preferred solution, justifying the selection. 20% Quality Assurance, Testing, and Documentation Performs QA, testing and documentation for the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships: Develops and helps to execute test plans for new systems and applications, including developing test data sets, test scripts, etc. Responsible for ensuring software applications meet design requirements, and are free from issues that will impact performance. Prepares system and user documentation for all systems worked on. Prepares training material for users of new system. 10% Technical Coordination with other Units Serves as a technical liaison with other key units to keep them informed of project progress and issues, ensure that all technical solutions meet campus business needs, and promote project buy-in. 10% Systems Operations Functional Support/ Back-up Cross-trains and serves as a back-up for functional staff in the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships' functional unit, both to mitigate risk through the transfer of institutional knowledge, and to develop functional expertise to better understand, keep abreast of, streamline, and automate the related business processes UC Vaccination Programs Policy As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California Policy on Vaccination Programs.
