Position Overview:

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Director, Enterprise Communications, who is a dynamic, experienced, and versatile communicator adept at handling a broad spectrum of responsibilities. The successful candidate will be instrumental in advancing Mass General Brigham's transformation journey through strategic communications and will play a crucial role in both internal and external communications.

Reporting to the Vice President, Enterprise Communications, Strategy and Content, the Director must have demonstrated experience in change management and organizational storytelling and expertise in large-scale transformation s and system implementations. The Director will be instrumental in translating complex change narratives across workstreams or projects into clear, compelling messages across various channels, including executive, employee, faculty, research, and functional team communications.

In this role, the Director will lead and implement strategic communications in line with our transformation and organizational goals and objectives and enable change and transformation to be readily embraced across the system. The Director will be responsible for delivering compelling communication s and content that leads to measurable employee and stakeholder engagement, while at the same time partnering with senior company leaders and the broader communications team to tell Mass General Brigham's transformation story. This role will also directly support labor relations functions to ensure strategic and consistent communications planning across the organization.

The Director must be a strategic and visionary storyteller who demonstrates a thorough understanding of communications discipline and best practices. This role will facilitate storytelling in coordination with the Content & Channel Strategy team that articulates news ways of working and supports smooth and successful implementations

The successful candidate is highly detail-oriented, has strong program and project management skills, and is excited to take the pen and write the story of transformation for Mass General Brigham. The Director has experience applying a strategic lens to high-profile and high-level hospital and research activity to ensure alignment with organizational goals, coordinating across large, complex organizations, and building collaborative working relationships within a fast-paced environment.

The Director will also collaborate closely with other communications leaders and team members from across Mass General Brigham - as well as leaders of other system departments, and leaders within the Marketing division, to understand and distill high-level business, clinical and technical system details and share the information in a targeted, coordinated manner. This role must coordinate and collaborate extensively across the Mass General Brigham systemwide to deliver positive results.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to support Mass General Brigham's transformation initiatives, including a proactive communications program to reach clinical and non-clinical employees to enable change and transformation.
  • Advise transformation and goal leaders on strategic and tactical change communication and management, internal communication and employee engagement best practices.
  • Manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders, ensuring timely and effective communication across all levels of the organization.
  • Under the direction of the VP, Enterprise Communications, lead strategic planning efforts and help to provide communications support to senior leadership. Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather inputs and insights, transforming them into coherent and compelling narratives.
  • Craft compelling narratives and content that align with organizational goals and resonate with diverse audiences. Draft, edit and produce relevant and engaging messages, employee case for change stories communications and content consistent with Mass General Brigham's transformation and organizational goals, and brand.
  • Utilize a mix of channels (including digital, internal, and site-specific assets and tools) along with live interactions to reach and engage targeted internal audiences, identifying and implementing new approaches, technologies and innovations as required.
  • Adapt communication strategies to evolving organizational needs and external environments.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and innovation through effective communication practices.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and make data-driven adjustments as necessary.
  • Utilize real-time data and analytics to measure performance of communications, inform new strategies and identify new opportunities that build positive conversations in external communications channels.

Qualifications

Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in communications, business, health care, or a related field required, master's degree a plus.
  • Experience in a large, complex organization, experience in human resources, change management, and building cultures preferred.
  • 10+ years of communications, marketing, and/or change management/people change experience
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of communication development and delivery.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in Labor Relations and bargaining processes
  • Proven track record of successfully managing strategies for C-level executives preferred.
  • Exceptional storytelling skills with the ability to distill complex concepts into clear, concise messages.
  • Familiarity with Change Management methodologies and experience in a large-scale transformation project is a plus.
  • Proven track record of managing complex projects and working with multiple stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Mass General Brigham institutions, communication channels and processes a plus.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation and delivery skills.
  • Ability to adapt communication strategies to changing organizational needs, and effectively formulate and execute messages and strategies using a variety of communication vehicles.
  • Sound editorial judgment regarding publication content, design, and effectiveness.
  • Strong organizational, planning and project management skills, including the ability to handle risk and/or difficult situations and to manage effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex ideas, including problem-solving skills necessary to gather and interpret data and to diagnose needs.
  • An organized self-starter who can work autonomously and manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver under tight deadlines.
  • Requires minimal direction from leadership and possesses the ability to learn quickly.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

No direct supervisory responsibility.

Fiscal Responsibility:

Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by effectively using Mass General Brigham resources.

  • Hybrid, with local travel to sites
