Description

As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University is seeking to immediately hire an Autism Coordinator to oversee and provide leadership for Marian University's autism/neurodiversity support program, Spectrum of Knights and to promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by providing individualized support, implement personalized programming, and connect students with autism to both on-campus and community resources. The autism coordinator is a vital team member within the Access and Success Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
  • Serves as the leader and main point of contact for Marian University's Spectrum of Knights and is responsible for the facilitation, implementation, and assessment of the program.
  • Participates in the ongoing development of the program based on updated information and assessment and reporting rubrics that demonstrate the impact and effects of the program.
  • Develops and delivers an individualized experience and curriculum for students participating in the autism program, program experiences/curriculum includes: weekly 1:1 meetings, weekly cohort workshops, weekly study tables, etc.
  • Programs community building opportunities for students within the program both on and off campus. Examples include: Children's Museum, Indianapolis Zoo, a local play, etc.
  • Oversees the recruitment of students to the autism program through collaboration with the Offices of Enrollment Management and Marketing and Communication.
  • Collaborates with other offices and departments in the delivery of services to students participating in the autism program.
  • Coordinates strategies and identifies solutions to challenges and barriers encountered by students participating in the autism program.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises students who serve as peer mentors within the autism program.
  • Supports financial operations of Spectrum of Knights including student billing, program scholarship, Vocational Rehabilitation funding, and programming budget through collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Provides personalized success coaching for students in the autism program to help foster academic success, self-determination, and help students persist to graduation.
  • Interprets and implements university policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with all state and federal laws.
  • Organizes creative social experiences and related programming for students participating in the autism program.
  • Maintains communication with external stakeholders including: parents/families, Indiana high schools, Vocational Rehabilitation, community service providers, etc.
  • Supports Marian's Neurodiversity Advisory Council that works to facilitate campus-wide educational trainings and social programming.
  • Assists with writing grants to support the autism program when opportunities are presented.
  • Maintains all necessary records and documentation.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.


Required Qualifications:



  • To be qualified for this position the candidate must have a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, education, or related human-services field
  • Passionate about and experience in working with and serving students with disabilities.
  • Experience in centering students' intersecting identities in services and programming
  • Experience working with a diverse student population
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Have a working knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disability Amendments Act of 2008, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and other appropriate laws.
