Overview

The Project Coordinator is responsible for the management, coordination and development of clinical planning projects, as well as the review and evaluation of new or existing business systems. The position requires work with Medical Staff Leadership, management, administration, internal departments and staff, paid consultants, and external organizations. The role of the Project Coordinator is to execute and communicate analyses to Hospital and Medical Staff leadership, via business plans, project coordination and in-depth examination of business and market environments. In addition, the position supports with strategic planning activities, budget forecasting, and other staff functions.

Responsibilities

* Supports with strategic analyses for development and tracking of the Behavioral Health Service Line strategic plan and individual objectives therein.

* Assists production and evaluation of service line strategic and program-specific strategic plans, including plan development and identification of implementation steps.

* Assists with the design, development and maintenance of planning analyses and reports, including graphic presentation and dissemination.

* Assists with research and develops analyses of services by hospital and competitors, creating service line and competitor market assessments.

* Develops straightforward business plans with clinical groups. Projects include market research, resource identification, implementation guidelines and clinical research, as needed.

* Assists with forecasting demographics, demand for services, capacity, etc. for short and long-range strategic, programmatic and facility plans and processes.

* Maintains knowledge of appropriate resources and tools, e.g. planning monthly reports, census data, Advisory Board tools and reports, CHA tools and reports, Qlikview, etc.

* Develops working relationships with other planners and regulatory agencies in the region and state.

* Carries out special projects as assigned by Manager or Vice President, including project management, data analysis, and special studies.



Qualifications

Knowledge, skills and abilities required

1. Bachelor's degree in Hospital/Health Administration, Business Administration, Planning, Computer Science or other related field preferred.

2. One to three years of academic and/or professional experience in systems planning preferred, health care experience preferred; OR one to three years' experience in health care business development and physician relations preferred.

3. Clinical knowledge to understand and evaluate patient- and physician-specific information, including DRG and CPT coding, as well as other diagnostic and procedural terminologies.

4. Understanding of computer data management systems. Extensive spreadsheet and presentation graphics knowledge preferred.

5. Analytical skills to assemble, evaluate and understand small scale information and studies, and to identify current and future trends.

6. Excellent communication and organization skills to effectively interact with medical staff, consultants, external professionals, administrators, and employees at all levels. Reflective listening skills are critical.

7. Physical ability to tolerate a high percentage of time in sedentary work at a desk.

Minimum Physical Requirements

Sitting, computer work - 40%

Public presentations - 30%

Walking to and sitting at meetings - 30%
