THE POSITION

In this role, you will support our mission of protecting the public health by conducting health care surveys in various facilities to determine compliance with federal and state regulations. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for conducting various types of surveys, including but not limited to complaints, incidents, full and annual health surveys, abuse investigations, revisit surveys (both in-office and on-site), civil rights surveys, special CMS surveys, and occupancy surveys. These surveys will be conducted in accordance with federal and state regulations for initial licensure, re-licensure, civil rights compliance, and Medicare or Medicaid certification to assess facility compliance. You will also review incident reports as assigned and communicate with providers via electronic or verbal means to obtain follow-up information as needed. Additionally, you will carry out investigations related to complaints and incidents, perform occupancy inspections, and conduct revisits to ensure the facility has implemented corrective actions to resolve identified issues. Your duties will be performed independently, with a partner, as part of a team, or as the team coordinator during on-site surveys.

This position requires irregular and flexible work hours to comply with state and federal requirements and to address departmental needs. Travel throughout the state, including overnight trips and frequent travel within Berks, Bucks, Lebanon, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton, Schuylkill counties is a requirement of this position. You will be required to carry a cell phone and respond to complaints during off-hours.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • You will spend an average of 3 to 4 days in the field each week.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time on the days you are not out surveying. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Easton.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires successful completion of the relevant provider-specific federally mandated Surveyor Minimum Qualifications training and Test (SMQT) provided by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services or an equivalent certifying body for the discipline, within one year of hire.
  • This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • If you possess an active temporary practice permit, you must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
  • This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
