Regulatory Compliance Coordinator

Aiken Regional Medical Centers, located in Aiken, South Carolina, is a 273-bed acute care facility providing quality healthcare to the residents of Aiken and surrounding communities. In collaboration with the Manager of the Quality Outcomes Management Department, the Regulatory Compliance Coordinator will organize, facilitate, and attend meetings associated with the activities of regulatory compliance. The Coordinator will demonstrate organizational skills, motivation and initiative by planning and completing routine tasks, projects and special assignments in a timely manner. They will partner with facility leaders and frontline teams to maintain organizational compliance with hospital, regulatory, The Joint Commission, and center of excellence standards. They will remain knowledgeable of regulatory standards of CMS, SC Department of Public Health, TJC and other licensing and accrediting organizations associated with the hospital. The coordinator will chair the facility Grievance Committee and coordinates the resolution of complaints and grievances with leaders and physicians across the continuum of care in compliance with CMS guidelines and other regulating bodies.

Duties:

  • Facilitate all regulatory activities for the organization to include; the hospital, behavioral health services, laboratory services, and all associated facilities.
  • Host routine mock surveys at hospital and bi-annual surveys at associated facilities.
  • Organize and facilitate regulatory compliance committee monthly.
  • Partner with leaders to ensure perpetual organizational compliance.
  • Participate in corporate regulatory activities.
  • Maintain knowledge of standards for all regulatory bodies, update leaders/organization as standards change or are added
  • Oversee and manage the tracer program, creating action plans with unit leaders to address deficiencies through regulatory compliance committee.
  • Prepare and maintain all documents for regulatory surveys
  • Organize and facilitate daily scheduling and planning for onsite reviews.
  • Attend staff meetings/huddles/orientation to prepare organization for survey
  • Collaborate with Quality Coordinators/Navigators to integrate process improvement strategies
  • Implement and execute strategies to maintain ongoing regulatory preparedness
  • Coordinate action plans and response to regulatory agencies, as required
  • Facilitates Grievance Committee and coordinates the resolution of complaints and grievances with leaders and physicians across the continuum of care in compliance with CMS guidelines and other regulating systems.
  • Appropriately tracks patient relations concerns in the electronic event reporting system.
  • Collaborate with Quality Improvement Coordinators to integrate process improvement strategies
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Education: Associates degree in a clinical discipline, such as RN, RT, or PT. Bachelor's preferred.

Experience: Current clinical knowledge, Minimum of 2-5 years' experience in acute care setting within the last 5 years with increasing level of responsibility. Knowledge of healthcare quality initiatives and regulatory guidelines. Prior experience in regulatory compliance preferred. Computer skills including, but not limited to, word processing (MS Word), spreadsheet (MS Excel), data entry and management as necessary for web-based programs, and familiarity with working within network systems.

License or Registration Requirements: Certification and/or license in clinical discipline.
