Roll Grinder Operator

Pay rate | $17 - $25/hr.

Schedules available:

• 1st shift: 6 AM - 2 PM
• 2nd shift: 2 PM -10 PM
• 3rd shift: 10 PM -5 AM

Essential tasks:

• Operate and set up the grinder to meet customer specifications, including installing stands, blocks, and drives.
• Stage rolls, check serial numbers, and prepare rolls by installing bearings and lifting them into the grinder using crane cables.
• Input and adjust CNC controls for grinding specifications, including crown, tapers, and alignment, and use progressively finer grinding belts to achieve the desired finish.
• Inspect the roll during and after grinding for proper hardness, crown profile, alignment, and remove scratches as required.
• Perform digital caliper measurements, record hardness readings, and ensure all specifications match the factory order before approval.
• Maintain grinder cleanliness, perform basic maintenance, and report issues to supervision as needed.
• Wrap and transfer completed rolls to the next department and clean up the machine and work area before starting the next job.

Qualified candidates will have one year of related experience. Must have experience measuring with micrometer and calipers.
