JOB TYPE Classification: Exempt Supervises Positions: Yes JOB SUMMARY The Director of Pharmacy is responsible for leading pharmacy services within UVA Community Health including operational, clinical, and regulatory oversight consistent with the health system's mission, vision, goals, and values. Collaborates with organizational leaders and manages interdependencies across divisions to design and provide pharmacy services. Partners with service line and ambulatory leaders to develop and deliver pharmacy services across all practice settings. Responsibilities include leadership of pharmacy services at Prince William Medical Center, Haymarket Medical Center, and Culpeper Medical Center; support of pharmacy business unit financial planning and growth; and human resources including development of team members. Ensures compliance with regulatory bodies including FDA, DEA, and state Board of Pharmacy. Maintains site responsibility and accountability for local operations and compliance (i.e., diversion monitoring, TJC compliance, drug shortage mitigation) while aligning efforts across the pharmacy enterprise. Stimulates interest, knowledge, and support of pharmacy leaders across the enterprise through presentations, webcasts, and other interactions designed to increase engagement in program initiatives and can develop a business plan and supporting financial analysis in support of new and expanded pharmacy initiatives. Collaborates and partners with leadership across the system. Aligns and informs the UVA Community Health Chief Operating Officer as well as UVA Health Chief Pharmacy Officer. Analysis: Analyzes processes and creates deliverables to provide information and recommendations for improvements.
Communication: Shares and receives information using clear oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Quality Improvement: Demonstrates involvement in the unit's annual and/or periodic assessment efforts, including efforts to improve the quality services.
Customer Service: Builds relationships and maintains strategic partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Financial Management: Manages tasks and resources within the department to achieve quality and meet budget requirements.
The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education: 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree required - BS Pharm or PharmD. Master's Degree preferred. Experience: 3 years or more of progressive experience in pharmacy management Specialized residency training in pharmacy administration will be considered in lieu of experience. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details. Licensure: Licensed to practice pharmacy in Virginia and in good standing with the board of Pharmacy(ies) required.
