- With limited supervision, performs a variety of minor and complex repairs, installations, and modifications to hospital equipment and buildings.
- Completes assigned maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications and hospital standards.
- Performs watch standing activities on physical building and hospital equipment.
- Responds to and resolves emergency situations on systems and equipment. 2
- Maintains repair and preventative maintenance history by accurately documenting maintenance and operational records in electronic maintenance management system.
- Communicates accurate and pertinent information regarding maintenance requests to customers, co-workers and leadership in a timely manner; Monitors and orders facilities maintenance supplies as needed.
- Participates in department committees and decision-making activities; Assists in training as requested.
- Provides assistance to co-workers and department leads as needed; Keeps work areas clean and safe, picking up debris at work sites and surrounding areas.

Background/Expertise:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- Minimum of four (4) years of building and equipment maintenance or equivalent experience required; Specialized trade license preferred.
- Must possess a valid Oregon driver's license and be eligible for authorization according to Salem Health's Fleet Safety Program policy within 4 months of hire, maintaining it thereafter.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in hospital equipment, safety policies and emergency start-up/shutdown procedures.
- Must be knowledgeable in the safe and proper use and operation of general maintenance equipment, power tools, and hand tools. Must have strong mechanical skills and dexterity.
- Must be able to read and understand blueprints and schematics as required; Must be self-motivated and able to work independently; Must have good interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to read operation and maintenance manuals; Must be able to write legibly; Must be able to update work orders on computerized maintenance program, including entering hours worked and supplies used.
- Must possess general understanding of applicable codes and regulations; Knowledge of building systems required; Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
