General Information:

The Compliance Coordinator, reporting to the Director of Audit & Management Services, is responsible for promoting an organizational culture that encourages ethical conduct and a commitment to compliance with applicable laws and policies, and monitoring of compliance efforts as required by the seven elements of an effective compliance program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Compliance Coordinator tracks and monitors compliance functions across the university and facilitates a compliance network of persons with compliance responsibilities across all divisions. The Compliance Coordinator serves as chair and provides support and oversight to the University Compliance Committee and point-of-contact for university employees with compliance responsibilities. The Compliance Coordinator is responsible for providing the Compliance Committee with research and data on compliance topics and reports annually on the status of compliance efforts to the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee of the Board of Visitors. The Compliance Coordinator networks with persons with compliance responsibilities across all divisions of the university and serves as the central point of contact for compliance training and resources needed. The Compliance Coordinator supports departmental compliance efforts across all divisions by researching both existing and new legislation and advising departments on the impact on operations.

Qualifications:

Required:



  • Knowledge of compliance issues in the higher education environment
  • Experience in related field (e.g. para-legal, auditing, higher ed management, or industry with compliance requirements)
  • Networking and leadership skills, with the ability to foster strong relationships
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities, including presentation skills Competency with computer software (e.g. Microsoft 365)
  • Detail-oriented and well-organized
  • Strong listening, decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Research and reporting skills


Additional Considerations:



  • Current working knowledge of compliance issues in the higher education environment Demonstrated experience with risk assessment and/or risk management processes
