Job Summary

As a researcher in the Daraio Lab, you will be responsible for working on wearable devices and creating experimental setups to understand wave motionin solids. Initially, you will be trained in ongoing research in wearable devices and lab equipment. You will take measurements from wave motion experiments, adjust, and troubleshoot any equipment, and design and manufacture components as needed. As a part of the lab group, you will work with other scholars to design experiments and evaluate findings for future research.

Essential Job Duties



  • Set up experimental procedures for testing and calibrate equipment for accuratemeasurements.
  • Work on software development in MATLAB for experimental measurements andsimulation.
  • Be responsible for the design and manufacturing of components for wave motiontesting.
  • Troubleshoot software and fix hardware with 3D Printer and 3D Scanner asneeded.
  • Provide support with 3D CAD and ISO standards for manufacturing.
  • Attend group meetings and report to the supervisor about research findings.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications



  • BS in mechanical engineering.
  • Research experience +1 year.
  • Knowledge of structural mechanics and wave motion.
  • 3D CAD and GD&T experience +1 year.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB.
  • Familiar with using an oscilloscope.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Familiarity with wearable devices and meta-materials.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing.
  • Experience with experimental work on wave motion.
  • Experience with 3D scanners.
  • Experience with Python.

Hiring Range

$18.50 to $24.75 per hour

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
