THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a HVAC Refrigeration Maintenance Mechanic, you will utilize your specialized skills and knowledge to complete installations, carry out maintenance, recognize causes of faulty equipment, and make repairs on refrigeration and HVAC systems that provide air conditioning, heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, cleaning, filtering, and circulation. Work also includes responding to requests or alarms during and after scheduled work hours. You will have the opportunity to assist higher level trades personnel identify and troubleshoot problems related to air flow, water flow, refrigerant flows, electrical failures of motors, and electrical circuits in HVAC systems including process cooling equipment.

You will be expected to access, navigate, and monitor building automation systems including Automated Logic, Johnson Controls, Delta, and Siemens to monitor equipment performance. This includes receiving alarm messages and providing proper notifications. A supervisor will be available to guide you through situations that may have a significant impact on operations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 24/7 operation.
  • Work schedule includes 3 different shifts: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is considered essential, you will be required to report to work during emergencies and office closings.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC or refrigeration systems, units, and equipment; or
  • Completion of a three-year Vo-Tech training program in refrigeration, HVAC, or building automation and six months experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC or refrigeration systems, related digitally controlled equipment, or BA systems; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC or refrigeration equipment.

Special Requirements:

  • You must obtain EPA Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification from an approved provider within 6 months of employment.
  • You must possess an active motor vehicle license.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Two years of experience in the installation, maintenance, or repair of HVAC systems.
  • Experience utilizing Building Automation Systems for the purposes of monitoring and adjusting HVAC equipment performance.
  • Experience troubleshooting chillers, boilers, or automation systems.
  • An associates degree in HVAC, Refrigeration, Building Automation Systems, or closely related field.
  • Experience using a computerized maintenance management system, or work order system.
  • Ability to work 7:00 am - 3:00 pm shift; 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm shift; or 11:00 pm - 7:00 am shift.
