Onsite Project Manager As an Onsite Project Manager you will be responsible for managing the 24/7/365 operations of wastewater centrifuge units within a refinery environment. This role is based at a Heritage client site.

Essential Functions & Requirements:



  • Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
  • Assesses project needs related to equipment and labor and determines projected length of project and associated costs; maintains responsibility for adherence to project timeframes and budget
  • Initiates project by scheduling resources, submitting required paperwork to begin project, negotiating with regulatory agency personnel and preparing written plans and compliance documents
  • Monitors and keeps client informed of project progress by providing regular project status reporting; recognizes and negotiates authorized changes in original project plan and adjusts costs accordingly
  • Maintains client relationships throughout project; completes daily meetings with client's operational staff and contractors to coordinate activities
  • Learns, complies with, and maintains proficiency in the client's work and safety processes; participates in the client's contractor committees, particularly for safety
  • Networks and develops relationships with personnel across the refinery, including contractors
  • Supervises personnel involved in field operations, planning work that ensures safe conditions and instructs others (including 3 supervisors, 15 operators and 1 lab technician) on methods and procedures
  • Prioritizes personnel and process safety and environmental compliance
  • Develops a deep understanding of the mechanical and chemical practices used and provides technical guidance to staff for troubleshooting and to adapt operations as needed
  • Leads small projects such as equipment maintenance and piping upgrades
  • Maintains responsibility for monthly billing approval and other administrative tasks
  • Participates in the hiring, performance evaluation, promotion, discipline and termination decision-making process for personnel
  • Assists with Technical Services projects, performs field activities, and assists as a lab chemist in the on-site lab as needed
  • Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization


Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (required); chemical or mechanical specialty (preferred)



Experience:



  • 4+ years of experience as a plant/production engineer or manager in a refinery or chemical plant environment (required) -OR-
  • In lieu of degree, 8+ years of experience as a plant/production engineer or manager in a refinery or chemical plant environment (required)
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience (required)



Competencies:



  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of all Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations pertaining to the environmental services industry
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with both internal and external customers
  • Strong organizational skills to effectively schedule and monitor projects
  • Strong business writing skills to develop project proposals and reporting
  • Regular and predictable attendance to perform the essential functions and requirements of this role
