Job Summary:



The Colorado Center for Personalized Medicine is seeking an early career/aspiring data scientist with expertise in clinical pharmacogenomics and personalized medicine to join our team as a clinical data analyst. This individual will work closely with clinical teams, bioinformaticians, research scientists, and health system analysts to obtain, curate, and analyze electronic health record (EHR) data. This position involves data management and analysis, statistical analysis, and report generation, to provide data-driven insights to optimize program design, effectiveness, and scalability of pharmacogenomics and personalized medicine initiatives within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Independently obtain, manage, process, and clean large-scale clinical and genomic datasets from multiple sources, including EHRs, the biobank at the Colorado Center for Personalized Medicine, and enterprise data warehouses, such as Health Data Compass.
  • Analyze pharmacogenomic and clinical data to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of pharmacogenomic programs within the organization.
  • Develop and apply statistical models to evaluate drug-related outcomes, using methodologies specific to pharmacogenomics.
  • Create data visualizations and reports to communicate findings to clinical leaders, stakeholders, and program teams.
  • Translate data insights into actionable recommendations for program improvement, scale-up, and future program design.
  • Present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, tailoring the content to suit diverse stakeholders' needs.
  • Use data analysis tools and software (e.g., R, SAS) to perform statistical analysis and generate program insights.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and ethical guidelines (e.g., HIPAA, GCP) in the handling and analysis of clinical and genetic data.
  • Conduct regular data audits and contribute to quality improvement processes to enhance program evaluation accuracy and reliability.
  • Document evaluation methods and create standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support consistent and reproducible analysis.



Work Location:



Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of # days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in any field.
  • At least two (2) years of experience working with pharmacogenomics and/or personalized medicine data.*
  • Experience using the R statistical programming language.*
  • Experience working with clinical data (e.g., medications, laboratory measurements, clinical notes, etc) in an analytic environment.*


*Experience may be obtained simultaneously.





    • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis but not for the specific years of experience.




Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:



  • A master's degree or PhD in quantitative and/or health sciences (e.g., pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacogenomics, statistics, data science, genetics) is preferred.
  • Clinical experience or training in pharmacy, medicine, and/or healthcare.
  • Previous experience or training in any aspect of data science including data management, data wrangling, data analysis, and/or statistical methods.
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies and distributed computing, especially Google Cloud Platform Storage, BigQuery, and Eureka.
  • Experience with enterprise data warehouses (e.g., Health Data Compass).

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $66,346 to $82,000.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
