Talgo, Inc. has immediate openings for experienced and motivated Mechanics to join the team in Milwaukee, WI. We are seeking individuals with a mechanical mindset and an interest in working with train cars. Talgo will provide specific training on the equipment for individuals who have the right attitude, basic manufacturing experience, and the willingness and ability to learn new skills quickly!

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and overhaul of rail car and systems as directed.
  • Fabricate and install seats, work on interior/exterior trim, outbound inspection, inspect & install trucks, and vestibule.
  • Work on train car underframe (de-trucking, re-trucking), coupler assembly/disassembly, and brake assembly/disassembly.
  • Measure product dimensions using standard and metric rulers.
  • Follow established Standard Work Instructions.
  • Engage in problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Perform in-process quality inspections and accurately fill out production paperwork.
  • Conduct daily inspections of vehicles.
  • Interpret maintenance and operational manuals and adhere to general housekeeping requirements.
  • Perform inbound inspection, diaphragm work, removal of seats, apply emergency equipment, drop ceiling panels, renew door operator, windows, air brake valves/hoses.
  • Test air brake/door seals and perform Q.C. repairs.
  • Install emergency and fixed windows, body & side doors.


Mechanic Requirements:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of HAZCOM, equipment/system specifications, lock out/tag out, and cutting equipment.
  • Experience working in a production environment.
  • Understanding of measurements and basic math.
  • Proficiency in using both standard and metric rulers.
  • Experience with data entry and basic computer skills.
  • Detail-oriented with good multitasking abilities.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods, twist, bend, reach with arms and hands, handle, grasp, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Understanding of drilling and tapping holes.
  • Experience with the removal of broken bolts/screws.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail.
