Location: 16 x Burnside Recovery Center

Schedule: Monday - Friday (8:00am - 5:00pm)

Compensation:



  • SUDS Counselor I: $25.76 - $33.49
  • SUDS Counselor II: $28.40 - $36.92



SUMMARY: This position is a critical member of a multi-disciplinary team that provides comprehensive, intensive residential treatment to residents with severe substance use disorders. The team works to address all treatment needs, including crisis management, substance use disorder treatment, medication management, physical health treatment, mental health treatment, and accessing appropriate and affordable housing. This position will provide direct services and support the team in providing person-centered care with consideration of the impact trauma and substance use has upon the client.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED)

*To be granted formal consideration for the SUDS Counselor position, please ensure your professional/working experience meets the requirements listed below:



  1. Required: Must have High School Diploma or GED, advanced degree preferred.
  2. Required (Certifications):


    1. SUDS Counselor I - CADC I
    2. SUDS Counselor II - CADC II


  3. Required: Must be able to work with pregnant, parenting or nursing women
  4. Required: Must be able to work as on-call counselor by cell phone one week on rotation basis with other counselors
  5. Required: Must have a valid driver's license, if using a vehicle for agency (CCC) use



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  1. Conduct and document substance use disorder assessments ASAM level of care, substance use disorder DSM diagnosis, and clinical formulation.
  2. Develop strengths-based treatment plan and maintain treatment plan updates in collaboration with client.
  3. Work with a diverse team, including professional and para-professional staff, to develop and implement client-centered care.
  4. Participate in clinical staff meetings and case conferences with team members in order to utilize interdisciplinary expertise and facilitate individual service plans for clients.
  5. Share recovery expertise by working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary treatment team, modeling integrated treatment skills, and evidence-based principles and practice.
  6. Support clients in accessing off-site appointments and collaboration meetings as necessary, to include court appearances and DHS family decision meetings.
  7. Participate in direct treatment of clients by:
  8. Attending clinical staff meetings and case conferences
  9. Providing group counseling to clients on a daily basis
  10. Providing one-on-one counseling sessions.
  11. Facilitate substance use treatment groups for clients, including addiction as a disease process, recovery skills, Trauma Informed Care components, and life skills.
  12. Assess, triage and respond to client crisis in the most effective, efficient, and safe manner possible.
  13. Participate in evaluating clients for risk of harm.
  14. Monitor and assure the health and safety needs of clients are met.
  15. Quickly and accurately assess the needs of individual clients and potential barriers to service.
  16. Utilize Motivational Interviewing and trauma-informed treatment modalities to identify stages of change and develop corresponding stage wise treatment strategies.
  17. Maintain client records as required by State, Federal, local and program standards and funding requirements.
  18. Works within scope of training and experience and seeks consultation when appropriate.
  19. Participate in regular supervision from the Clinical Supervisor, seeking additional supervision whenever necessary. Minimum requirement two hours of documented supervision per month.
  20. Collaborate with partnering agencies, including DHS Child Welfare and the Department of Justice.
  21. Coordinate services with all members of client's support network.
  22. Participate in training opportunities to advance skills and knowledge in substance use disorders.
  23. Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities as directed.
  24. Assist with the development of an integrated treatment program.
  25. Attend all mandatory CCC trainings in a timely manner.
  26. Adhere to all state and federal privacy regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, and to CCC policies and agreements regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security. Support compliance with all privacy and security requirements pursuant to community partners' and outside providers' patient confidentiality agreements, including privacy and security requirements for EMR access. This includes immediately reporting any breach of protected health information or personal identification information of any person receiving CCC services by CCC or an outside provider to the CCC Compliance Department, as well as to your supervisor or their designee.

  12. Ability to apply principles learned to new situations.
  13. Ability to learn new skills.
  14. Ability to display a non-judgmental attitude.
  15. Demonstrated knowledge of community and social service agencies.
  16. Knowledge and skills in chemical dependency treatment methods.
  17. Sufficient manual dexterity and physical ability to perform assigned tasks.
  18. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
  19. Ability to work in an environment where people may be hostile or abusive.
  20. Ability to manage time and meet deadlines.
  21. Ability to work courteously and effectively communicate with the general public, clients, medical personnel, corrections personnel, police, and co-workers.
  22. Ability to maintain accurate records and necessary paperwork.
  23. Knowledge of de-escalation methods.
