ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED

  • Draft, edit, revise and update as necessary all documents associated with the Quality System, i.e. Quality Manual and maintain electronic delivery system.

  • Serve as the backup Management Representative for the Quality System.

  • Ensure that processes needed for the Quality System are established, implemented and maintained.

  • Maintain and report on the performance of the Quality System and any need for improvement.

  • Ensure the promotion of awareness of customer requirements throughout the organization.

  • Administration of Corrective Action Request system and Customer Complaints.

  • Control of quality related documents and records as defined in the Quality Manual and the quality procedures.

  • Keeps Management fully apprised of significant occurrences and trends that impact the quality of product or manufacturing operations.

  • Anticipates current and future issues and develops plans and actions to minimize the negative impact. i.e. Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA)

  • Manage quality scrap/rework transactions.

  • Continuously improve customer satisfaction.

  • Supplier Quality Champion

  • Management of JCMS system and requirements.

  • Travel to jobsites and interact with customers

  • Maintain SPC on critical processes

  • Interface with ECN system and work with engineering on prototype testing

QUALIFICATIONS

The Quality Engineer reports to the Quality Manager and will have primary responsibility for development and maintenance of production quality standards and documentation. This includes, but is not limited to; defining quality requirements for new products and preparing/maintaining necessary documentation, monitor production quality performance to identify opportunities for improvement, review and maintenance of quality files, procedures, Job Books, work instructions, etc. for relevance and adherence to MSA Quality System, customer and regulatory compliance. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred. Associates degree or 5+ years in a similar quality assurance program, department, or operation is required. Experience working in the quality area for an organization certified to ISO 9001 or similar standard. Knowledge of Quality Assurance system development and implementation such as ANSI/ISO/ASQ 9001, SQF, ISO 14001, QS 9100, etc. Experience with the proper use of measuring equipment Proficiency in MS Office, including Word and Excel. Excellent communication skills, both orally and written, at all levels of an organization. Strong organizational skills and motivational skills. Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems and make logical decisions. Ability to work independently, as well as within a team.

LANGUAGE ABILITY

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to analyze data and develop reports

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, vendors, and/or factory reps.

MATH ABILITY

  • Ability to understand and work with statistics

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area and circumference.

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products

  • Using formulas and Pivot charts in excel (Must have).

CERTIFICATES & LICENSES

  • ISO 9000 Internal Auditor preferred.

  • CQE certification preferred

  • Six Sigma certification preferred

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This job requires supervisory role in the absence of the Quality Manager.
