Job description

Summary: Supervise, monitor and support the Vice President of Quality implementing the Quality Management System for Otto Environmental and associated facilities. Responsible for maintaining the quality management system in all facilities. Act as a project manager and liaison in internal initiatives for systems implementation.

Technical / Process Development:

* Develop procedures, work instructions and quality documents.

* Support other departments creating procedures, SOPs, work instructions and other documents in compliance with ISO.

* Review and approve documents and process changes.

* Lead or provide training regarding new systems, new procedures and processes across facilities.

* Develop and maintain internal auditing processes.

* Develop KPI for all departments in partnership with department leaders.

* Monitor monthly performance per department.

* Manage internal and external audits, report results.

* Lead Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action plan for Audit Non-Conformities.

* Create and maintain document database for Otto Environmental.

* Manage Projects related to systems for Otto Environmental and its associated plants, such as 5S Program, Internal Quality System Audits, Internal Layered Audits Process, CAPA etc.

* Act in program/project manager role on special initiatives involving quality, customer, business issues and systems deployment.

* Support ISO 9001, Systems, RCA, SPC training, implementation and maintenance.

Management & Supervisory:

* Supervises Quality Document Control

* Coach, train, and support not only Quality but other departments.

Quality System / Corrective Action

* Perform internal audit at Otto Environmental plants.

* Support Plants in preparation for external audits.

* Document all change requests for documentation and procedures.

* Report Monthly KPI.

* Ensure containment, investigate root cause and coordinate corrective action of quality nonconformance.

* Ensure effectiveness and completeness of RCA and Corrective Actions.Manage and drive Corrective Action Process. Issue Corrective Actions; follow through to closure.

* Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

* Update and maintain the Corrective Action database and files.

* Documents, analyzes, and initiates corrective actions for internal quality concerns.

QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, blue prints, charts and graphs, and legal documents.

* Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

* Ability to effectively present information to top and middle management, and customers.

* Must be able to write clear, concise procedures and work instructions.

* Spanish and/or German language skills are a plus but not required.



  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, lead teams and participate on continuous improvement teams.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Technical writing and flow charting experience.
  • Strong problem solving skills in Lean Six Sigma tools, DMAIC, Root Cause Analysis.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 5S preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, multitask and action oriented.
  • Experience in performing DOE and capability studies preferred.
  • Other Attributes should include: Self directed requiring minimal supervision; urgency, attention to detail, leadership skills, ability to influence others
  • Working knowledge of SPC.
  • Working knowledge of injection molding preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ISO9001 and TS16949 Quality System requirements.
  • Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, IMDS and Control Plans.
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, and Visio); Mini Tab preferred


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

** Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering, Materials or technical field, Five years of experience in quality within a manufacturing environment or combination of education and experience.*

** GD&T, Metrology and calibration experience highly desired.*

** Ability to read blueprints, use gages and calipers, and calibrate gages and calipers.*

** Experience performing Gage R&R and MSA studies preferred.*

** Supervisory experience preferred.*

** Experience as ISO/TS Internal Auditor (or) performing System, Process, and Product Audits highly desired*

** Experience in running and programming Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) highly desirable.*

WORKING CONDITIONS:

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: Office, Warehouse, and Plant

Work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job in the Plant, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the Plant work environment is usually moderate, but hearing protection may be required in designated areas. Office areas are climate controlled.
