POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Global Operations Finance is a key leadership role responsible for managing and overseeing Global Health financial operations across field offices globally. Reporting to the Chief Financial and Admin Officer (CFAO), this role ensures financial efficiency, compliance, and alignment with organizational objectives. The Director provides strategic financial direction, builds the capacity of finance teams, and ensures accurate financial reporting and forecasting to support organizational goals. The Director will work closely with members of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), particularly the Executive Vice President (EVP) of Global Health, to ensure financial strategies support the organization's global health initiatives.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Work closely with the CFAO and Controller to manage the financial operations of field offices, ensuring alignment with organizational strategies and financial policies.
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for all financial and general aspects of departmental functions to maintain efficient operations.
  • Establish goals and objectives for both HQ and field staff to achieve organizational targets.
  • Collaborate with the CFAO to oversee the recruitment and interviewing process for Finance Leaders globally.
  • Lead, mentor, and direct employees (HQ & field) to foster a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Partner with Financial Analysts to ensure accurate accounting treatments.
  • Review monthly financial statements of all country offices, providing analysis, interpretation, and adjustments as needed.
  • Develop and maintain financial forecasts, tracking key variances, changes, and opportunities in actual results versus forecasts.
  • For Global Health project and department budgets, coordinate monthly reviews of budgets vs actuals and updated projections with regional directors.
  • Design and implement training programs to strengthen financial management knowledge and capacity for HQ, field staff, and partners.
  • Coordinate finance/administration orientations for new overseas office staff, particularly for country directors and senior finance staff.
  • Lead the International Finance team in producing timely and accurate financial reports that comply with restricted donor agreements and regulations.
  • Coordinate the preparation of program budgets and financial forecasts, including startup program budgets and annual budget reviews.
  • Collaborate with program and field staff to ensure GAAP-compliant recording of financial transactions.
  • For Global Health project and department budgets, coordinate monthly reviews of budgets vs actuals and updated projections with regional directors.
  • Review existing accounting and financial controls, recommending and implementing necessary revisions or additions.
  • Provide technical supervision, mentorship, and training to country office Finance Leaders, building their capacity and ensuring adherence to financial frameworks and policies.
  • Assist with and/or coordinate internal and external audits. Follow up with field offices to implement corrective actions based on audit findings.
  • Review and reconcile intra-company accounts between field offices and HQ monthly, addressing discrepancies with field offices.
  • Lead the reconciliation and analysis of field balance sheet accounts.
  • Undertake additional projects and responsibilities as assigned to support organizational objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Minimum 7 years supervisory experience in a finance management capacity for a not-for-profit organization.
  • Knowledge and experience with U.S. Government Contracts and Grants, especially 2 CFR 200 and Federal Acquisition Regulations
  • Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), FASB 116 and 117.
  • Existing CPA certification or Master's degree in Finance.
  • Previous experience with an international non-governmental organization a plus
  • USAID experience required.
  • Proficiency in Arabic, French, or Spanish is highly desirable, facilitating effective communication in diverse international settings.
  • Proven experience in financial management, preferably in a global or non-profit context.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with a track record of managing diverse, remote teams.
  • Expertise in financial forecasting, budgeting, and analysis.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and restricted donor compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop training programs and build capacity within financial teams.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • NetSuite experience
  • Experience working in international field office settings.
  • Familiarity with donor funding regulations and financial reporting requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial management software and tools.

Salary range starting at $142,000 USD per year based on candidates residing in the US. Compensation for the role is dependent on several factors including a candidate's location, qualifications, skills, and experience.
