Industrial Hygienist - Environmental Health and Radiation Safety

The Industrial Hygienist performs, coordinates, and analyzes a multitude of air and surface sampling plans and health surveys. These include the evaluation and control of chemical hazards, biological hazards, ergonomic hazards, and physical hazards. Working under moderate supervision, this role supports the hospital's environmental health and radiology safety programs.

Talent Pool: Corporate Services/Professional


Assists with chemical inventories, environmental monitoring, and workplace audits for the Environmental Health and Radiation Safety Department.
Helps evaluate engineering controls, administrative controls, and work practice controls per National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) guidelines to ensure employee health and safety from hazards.
Conducts health and safety surveys, evaluates processes, preforms risk assessments, identifies hazards, preforms health and safety root cause analysis, develops action plans for environmental health and safety concerns or incidents.
Assists in developing health and safety policies, reports, records, databases, and sampling data for the system.
Acts as a trusted source in environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations to advise on the impact to business operations and serves as the organization's representative for health and safety when involved in construction projects or 3rd party environmental service providers.
Supports regulatory processes/surveys/audits/inspections and reporting to retain compliance with regulatory organizations, including (but not limited to): Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), The Joint Commission (TJC), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), and others.
Participates in the management and updating of Safety Data Sheets so that information on hazards is current and available to the organization. Supports the United States Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) pharmaceutical compliance program including education, training, auditing, and sampling for hazardous drugs, bioaerosols, and biological growth.
Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor?s degree in industrial hygiene or an environmental health and safety-related science

EXPERIENCE:
Required: 3 years of experience in industrial hygiene or health and safety regulatory compliance
