Shift:PRN - As needed. Varied hours, varied days. At least 24 hours in a 6 week period. Compensation: * Base Pay: $14.00 per hour, PRN flat rate * Shift Differentials: o Additional $1.00 per hour for nights, evenings, and weekends o Additional $2.00 per hour for weekend evenings and weekend nights

In this role, you will be assigned to one of three key areas per shift: Patient Observer, where you'll monitor patients for safety concerns; Unit Clerk, assisting the charge nurse with administrative tasks like managing transport requests, answering phones, and ensuring call lights are addressed; or Video Monitoring Room (VMR), where you'll remotely observe patients who require monitoring but not in-room supervision. Learn more about living in Columbia, MO. DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION Provide administrative and clerical support for units. Serve as the computer and office equipment resource or super user for areas. Additional clerical and administrative duties include but are not limited to answering phones, taking and relaying messages, ensuring follow-up as needed, monitoring and promptly answering call lights using positive guest relations skills, which includes coordinating appropriate staff assistance as required, coordinating, maintaining, and restocking unit supplies, which includes coordinating and completing retrieval and delivery, and serving as the unit resource person and communicator by maintaining line of sight on staff locations, equipment, and supplies. Coordinate paperwork for the unit, including admissions/discharge logs, census logs, patient medical records, and other unit-specific documentation. Maintain accurate and timely entry of information into the computerized bed-management system. Collect patient and unit data as assigned. Maintain appropriate medical records and other forms needed during computer downtime. Organize workload and manage multiple tasks while maintaining a neat and clean patient environment in the unit station and common areas. Utilize principles of Patient Family Centered Care to provide exemplary customer service. Establish and ensure good rapport with patients, guests, and staff. Monitor visitors on the unit and alert staff to possible problems and security issues. Assist with patient support and safety monitoring tasks that do not require hands-on clinical patient care, including observing assigned patients for safety, including suicidal precautions as outlined by the RN, reporting safety concerns to clinical staff, and redirecting patients until assistance arrives, meal-tray set up, monitoring safety including restraints, mobility, medical devices, that therapies remain, and for oral intake difficulties. Educate and train new health clerks, students, and other staff, related to health clerk activities and responsibilities. Contribute to and support a positive learning environment. Perform other duties as delegated by nursing staff and unit management as needed in routine and emergent situations. May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. This position is very active and may require ambulating, remaining in a stationary position and positioning self to reach and/or move objects above the shoulders and below the knees. The employee may frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 lbs and occasionally move objects up to 25 lbs. This role may also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
