Position Summary:

To effectively perform all the required duties of the Packaging Department Supervisor position in an accurate, thorough and safe manner as outlined per the Carl Buddig and Company job description. Employees are responsible for producing a safe and quality food product per USDA guidelines and are required to report all food safety related problems to their supervisor, manager, or to the quality assurance department to initiate immediate action.

Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Implement proper procedures for packaging department.
  • Coordinate with other departments to make adjustments to production schedule as needed.
  • Verify and monitor completion of responsibilities as outlined via the packaging department work schedule.
  • Responsible for overseeing 6-8 production lines.
  • Create and enforce self-inspection schedule to ensure self-auditing is completed.
  • Analyze situations to provide solutions that are in the best interest of the company.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Delegate responsibilities to employees as needed.
  • Ensure that packaging department employees are performing job duties as outlined via the Line Packer, Machine Operator and Packaging Material Handler Job Descriptions.
  • Ensure that employees are abiding by all Carl Buddig and Company policies via the Employee Handbook and Safety Manual.
  • Train new and existing employees on the required job duties outlined via the Line Packer, Machine Operator, and Packaging Material Handler Job Descriptions.
  • Discuss employees that have breached company policy or are not meeting performance metrics as outlined via the Line Packer, Team Leader and Packaging Material Handler Job Descriptions with the Packaging Manager and discipline accordingly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Packaging Manager.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and sanitary manner.


Qualifications:

Education & Experience:



  • Experience: Ability to legally work in the United States is required. Bachelor's Degree preferred. High School Diploma/GED is required. 1-3 years supervisory work experience is preferred.


Skills & Abilities:



  • Must be able to stand for 8-9 hours per day.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop and squat as needed for housekeeping responsibilities and other miscellaneous duties.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Must be able to work 40 or more hours per week.
  • Must be able to work mandatory overtime if necessary.
  • Must have good hand/eye coordination.
  • Must be highly attentive to detail (i.e. meat type/film/date).
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English and Spanish.
  • Must be able to pass an assessment (math and reasoning).
  • Must adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).
  • Must have mechanical abilities.
  • Must be able to manage a team of employees.
  • Prior knowledge of packaging and/or slicing preferred.


Working Conditions:



  • Must be able to work in temperatures of 40 degrees or less.
  • Must be flexible and able to work as needed (5:30am-3pm or 3:30pm-12:30pm).
  • Must be able to work in a high-speed packaging environment.


Pay range for this position is $65,000 to $85,000 depending on experience.

There is also a potential for a discretionary bonus this bonus is based on personal & company performance and is not a guaranteed bonus plan.
