The OSHA Compliance Manager is expected to plan, implement, and coordinate safety programs at Rumpke to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions. Additionally, this position is responsible for development, reviewing, and updating, policies and procedures related to OSHA regulatory standards.

Responsibilities of Position:



  • Assist in developing and implementing safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations pertaining to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Standards and workplace safety.
  • Review and update policies, procedures and training materials as needed but at least once annually.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain training for safety teams, supervisors/managers, and front-line employees in work- site safety practices.
  • Reconcile and manage OHSA injury reporting records for accuracy and provide data for internal monthly and quarterly meetings.
  • Prepare and upload OSHA logs annually to the agencies and ensure internal locations receive and post per the OHSA standard.
  • Assess and advise management of new developments in the health and safety field that may have application to the company's operations.
  • Work with Regional safety management to assist in health and safety data needed for bids.
  • Work with Regional and Area safety management to coordinate IH programs at their locations.
  • Perform safety audits, prepare written reports identifying opportunities for improvements, and work along operations/regional safety to ensure corrective actions have been implemented.
  • Assist Regional and Area management in conducting post-injury OSHA investigations and prepare reports identifying possible root causes and contributing factors.
  • Act as the liaison between Rumpke and OSHA during investigations and inspections.
  • Assist in developing and managing training programs to Regional safety teams, to include, but not limited to, the issuance of OSHA 10- and 30-hour cards, continuing safety excellence, and "how to" training courses.
  • Develop, implement, and manage training programs to train managers, employees, and third-party contractors in work- site safety practices and safe equipment operation.
  • Assist internal Worker's Compensation staff and third-party administrators with claims management.
  • Attend, speak, and represent the company at scheduled national safety organization meetings and internal meetings as required.
  • Assist with classroom training in the absence of designated trainers.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:



  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
  • Proficient knowledge of computers and typical production software (e.g., MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • The ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and/or governmental regulations.
  • Must meet Rumpke background and driving history requirements.



Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position:



  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or five to ten years minimum related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • General Industry OSHA Outreach Instructor required.
  • Proficient knowledge of computers and typical production software (e.g., MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)



Physical Requirements in a Regular workday:



  • Occasionally lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 10lbs.
  • Occasionally working outside in changing temperature, wet/humid conditions.
  • Occasionally working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, other airborne matter.
  • Occasionally stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling.
  • Occasionally Climbing and/or balancing.
  • Occasionally sitting/standing/walking in office enviroment.



Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:



  • Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas.
  • Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
  • Ability to travel between offices, as required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver's license (if applicable).
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language.
