We are seeking a skilled Tool and Die Maker to join our 2nd shift team at our Bowling Green, KY facility. This role is crucial in building jigs, fixtures, and dies, overseeing the machining process, and ensuring the assembly and tryout of tools. As a leader in the plant, the Tool and Die Maker will guide entry and intermediate-level team members and actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Interpret advanced assembly drawings and set priorities.
  • Receive materials and determine the optimal process for completion.
  • Grind parts to precise specifications for fit-up.
  • Assemble all components and align sections for clearances.
  • Secure components in place with dowels.
  • Conduct tool tryouts onsite or at the user's facility.
  • Engage in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Train and coordinate lower-level Tool and Die Makers.
  • Collaborate with Engineers and the Operations Manager on machining processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Desired Experience:



  • Proficiency in CNC operations (experience or education equivalent).
  • Strong project management skills to oversee entire projects.
  • Expertise in grinding components to tight tolerances.
  • Advanced blueprint reading skills.
  • Understanding of machining operations, speed, and feed ratios.
  • Ability to read micrometers, verniers, and dial indicators.
  • Knowledge of heat treatment impacts on steels.
  • Basic math and trigonometry skills.
  • Effective communication and training abilities.
  • Safety-conscious mindset for self and others.
  • Understanding of metallurgy.
  • Minimum of 5 years of tool and die experience.
  • Training in machine shop and machine tool operations.
  • Familiarity with lockout/tagout, fall protection, PPE, and confined space training.
  • Completion of WI basic safety training.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of standard operating procedures.
