The Trace Element Epidemiology Group at the University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) seeks a candidate to work in the trace element analysis laboratory. The core methodologies used in the group include preparing and analyzing samples using Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry. A background in chemistry, geology, physics, biology, biochemistry, or other STEM disciplines is a requirement. The candidate will work with the Primary Investigator and be responsible for:

• Supervise and lead a small team of lab personnel and students.
• Develop advanced analytical chemistry protocols for trace element analysis.
• Conduct sample preparation, instrumental analysis, and report writing.
• Manage large trace element analysis projects.
• Troubleshooting laboratory and instrument problems.
• Train and oversee graduate and undergraduate students.
• Oversee regulatory compliance in the laboratory.
• Coordinate research projects with other groups (Health Physics, Reactor Operations, Engineering, etc).
• Opportunity to develop a personal research program in trace element analysis.

Successful candidate will be extremely detail oriented and a persuasive communicator with exceptional organizational and time management skills. Must be available for consistent and reliable on-site work.

Monday - Friday 8AM to 5PM with some planned changes to work schedule as needed.

Bachelor's degree in related/relevant area and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Salary Range: $58,573 - $108,035 per year
